Reviews Summary

La Tapería is lauded for its authentic Spanish tapas, with many praising the 'mixed tapas' and homemade sangria for their delicious flavors and generous portions. Diners appreciate the cozy, intimate atmosphere and reasonable prices. However, some reviews mention inconsistent service and occasionally uneven quality, with one diner expressing dissatisfaction with their experience and the discrepancy between online photos and served dishes.

"We went for a late lunch. We had sangria and only 1 portion of the mixed tapas. The sangria is cold and superb!! It was a lot of food. 3 kinds of meat, a sausage in balsamic, etc. Fabulous! Looking at others' pics, the mixed tapas are not the same each day. We'd go back for different ones another day."

Sue Pee

"Food was amazing. Everything was fresh, flavorful and plentiful. Amazing variety of Tapas. The paella was loaded with fresh shrimp and some of the best I have ever eaten and the beer was ice cold. Prices were also very reasonable. Small footprint so get there early to make sure you get a table. Wait staff are also very friendly and accommodating"

Ross Bluestein

"The food was so tasty. Paella was one of the best, very good atmosphere and service. The place is easy to miss as it located among the souvenir shops. They did not disappoint!! I would say the food was more tasty than in some of the fancy restaurants i visited in the area."

Best restaurants in Cartagena's walled city & Getsemani 2024

A great option for some typical Spanish tapas style food, with a local Caribbean twist, La Tapería is located on the outer road, facing the very walls of Cartagena’s walled city, and just a short walk from the Clock Tower area. This place has an incredibly intimate feel – mainly because of the fact it can only accommodate 3-4 parties at any one time. You may need to book or get in early with this one, but it is an entirely worthwhile dining experience in Cartagena’s old town.
