"Wow, what nice little place.
Awesome interior.
The food was perfect and especially the young guy named Alejandro was so so friendly and positive.
He was always smiling and asked if everything is fine. When he took my empty plates he said i can sit here and relax.

"We went to Cafe Otoya for brunch on a Sunday morning. Many other folks had the same idea as it was crowded, a good sign. It's a small but nice place. Service was good and quick; you pay at the cashier as you leave rather than at the table. My “casada in a bowl” was very good, but my friend's dish was just too much dry bread. But that's just one dish; I recommend Cafe Otoya for Sunday brunch."

The warm and welcoming vibe that exudes from this cool Barrio Otoya café is only enhanced by the friendly, attentive staff. Diners are a real mix: some chow down on a sumptuous tenderloin, while others stop in for baked goods and coffee, but almost everyone partakes in the all-day brunch, especially on weekends. Cafe Otoya is a mix between a cafeteria and a bistro perfectly located in the historic Otoya neighborhood, offering gastronomy, art, history and a green lung in the middle of San José. If you want to spend the whole day in this beautiful place, you can ask for the “work combo” package so you can have breakfast, lunch and even have coffee (produced in CR) or tea in the afternoon, plus they give you free drink refills!. Something that is not usual in Costa Rica but that this place offers and is worth mentioning is being able to sit at their tables located in front of the premises on the sidewalk to be able to appreciate some old buildings of the capital that are part of the History of Costa Rica.

This local haunt lives up to its slogan—“somos más que café.” Another great place to spend time if you’re a bit on the hungrier side, this café serves up more than typical espresso drinks. From Sunday brunch to the full bar, Otoya Bistró is a good bet for any time of day or occasion. But don’t worry, if you’ve come for the coffee, it also won’t disappoint!
