Reviews Summary
Marco Polo Restaurant receives high praise for its intimate, romantic ambiance and creative Mediterranean dishes, particularly its seafood and meat options. Diners frequently highlight the exceptional and knowledgeable service. However, some find the price point high for the quality, with a few negative reviews citing salty pasta or lack of flavor in certain dishes.
"This was by far the best meal of our Croatia trip. Everything about this restaurant is amazing from the location to the food and the staff. It's the perfect place to celebrate an occasion or have a romantic dinner.
Some of the menu items we tried were the grilled zucchini, the Falafel, the Sea bass fillet, and the Pork belly, then for dessert we also had the wonderful chocolate cake. The entire meal was beautifully presented and drinks were outstanding. I highly recommend trying this restaurant for a memorable dining experience."

"It’s a really popular restaurant—we had to wait until 9 PM to get a table. The octopus appetizer was super creative. I’d never thought of slicing octopus that thin before, and the combination with olive oil and spicy tomato oil was full of flavor. The truffle pasta with shrimp was also really tasty. But the highlight was definitely the pork belly—it’s basically just thick-cut pork, but pairing it with pumpkin sauce was unexpected and surprisingly good."

"While this restaurant may be more on the pricey side for some, the food was incredible. Complimentary warm pumpkin soup drinks to start, along with bread. We had the goats cheese bread and baked cannelloni to start with, and the flavours were amazing. I then had the steak which was perfectly cooked to my liking and also had amazing flavours! Some of the best food I have ever had. And cant go without complimenting the staff for their knowledge of food and lovely service! Would recommend booking too"

For dinner our first night, we went to Marco Polo- a small family restaurant nestled in the narrow streets of Dubrovnik's city-center. While hard to capture on photos (hence the daytime shot I pulled from online above), you'll swoon over the romantic, dimly lit atmosphere that allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of town and relax. The team was so hospitable and we instantly felt right at home while they encouraged us to try traditional Dalmatian food that we weren't too familiar with-- I was blown away by all of it.

Delicious Dubrovnik: Skip the tourist traps for a real taste of Croatia
In Marco Polo restaurant (marcopolo-dubrovnik.com), down a tiny stone street in the Old Town, Marija talks me through each dish - the dried, smoked tuna is salty because it was dried near the seaside; the oysters are from Ston, a town 30 miles north which has the oldest oyster farm in Europe and 5.5km-long walls; the ham was dried in the Bura northern wind.

Croatia Exploring: Finding Vegetarian Food in Dubrovnik
Our first night in Dubrovnik we found ourselves at Marco Polo for dinner and we were off to a good start!. The vegetarian section of the menu may not have been much longer than most other restaurants we looked at, but it was full of interesting sounding dishes. I went with the sesame crusted tofu and I’m so glad I did.
