Reviews Summary
Konoba "Marco Polo" Old Town Korcula is highly praised for its exceptional, fresh seafood and perfectly cooked meats, often prepared on an open grill. Diners consistently highlight the warm, humorous, and attentive service, creating a welcoming, family-like atmosphere. While some mention minor issues with table placement for solo diners, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many returning multiple times during their stay.
"There is truly no better restaurant in Korcula than Konoba Marco Polo! After reading numerous reviews, we decided to visit on our first night in Korcula, and we ended up returning every night during our five-day stay. The food is mind-blowingly AMAZING!
I had the grilled squid and steak, both of which were cooked to perfection, while my husband enjoyed the chicken skewers and macaroni with meat. For a real treat, order the seafood platter for two! WOW!! Each dish was bursting with flavor and showcased the freshest ingredients available. Watching the chef prepare the meat and fish on the brick grill right in front of us added to the delightful experience. Not to mention the accompaniment of the freshly grilled vegetables and moth-watering garlic potatoes!!
A special shoutout to Antonio, the best waiter we’ve ever encountered! He is not only incredibly kind and funny, but he also made us feel like we were part of the family. His warmth and attentiveness truly enhanced our dining experience.
We can't wait to return to Korcula and indulge in another unforgettable meal at Marco Polo. Highly recommend this fantastic restaurant to anyone visiting the area!"

"I had an enjoyable time at this restaurant which was in the narrow streets of the old town. I had the stuffed squid and it was delicious! Also loved that the grilled vegetables served with it, a hearty healthy meal. I also tried some local wine from the region which was delicious. Minor comment on the service - I was a solo diner and was told to go to the furthest table in the outdoor area even though there were multiple tables closer that were free and not reserved. Just seemed odd as no other diners came during the time I was there so it felt a bit inconsiderate to be seated so far away. Besides that, the staff were quite friendly and I enjoyed the meal and experience."

"Food was amazing, full of taste and generously served. We loved it so much we went back a second night!
We had the tuna steak, fried octopus and chicken skewers, and the garlic bread for a side, and all were without fault. Super tasty!
The service was great too, joyous and made feel welcome.
The price is fair for the food quality."

To try the best specialty of Korcula, book a table in Konoba Marco Polo and order the region's pasta specialty called Žrnovski Makaruni, traditionally made by women of Žrnovo locality of the island. They can be served with a beef ragu, seafood or cheese, but this restaurant also offers a lobster topping that will be a true treat for real hedonists. Since its located in the center of Old Town, it is a great option for a mouthwatering lunch while exploring the historic landmarks.
11 Best Restaurants in Korcula, Croatia
Konoba Marco Polo is a charming family-run spot just off the main square, named (of course) after the island’s most famous son. The place feels like a well-kept secret: a shady terrace tucked behind high stone walls and fragrant jasmine, where lanterns swing overhead and the ambience whispers of old-world Croatian hospitality. I dove straight into their signature dish—a plate of grilled local fish, seasoned simply with lemon and the island’s fantastic olive oil.
Why the Town of Racisce in Korcula Needs to Be on Your Radar
Two konobas (Local family kitchens where Dalmatian cuisine was born) can be found in town, but the one most frequented by locals is Marko Polo Konoba. We were going to stop here for lunch, but unfortunately a private event was being held at the Konoba. The food is fresh, prices affordable, portions are generous, house wine is fantastic, and the view of Kneza port under the straw pergola makes for a wonderful afternoon lunch.

But by far the biggest attraction in Korčula Old Town is the supposed house that the famous Venetian explorer, Marco Polo was born in. The actual house does not originate from the times of Marco Polo (but was built in the 17th century). However we found it is still worth a poke around – at least to go up its watchtower for some great views.
