What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kantun Paulina is a highly praised Split institution, celebrated for its delicious and authentic ćevapi served in exceptionally soft bread. While lines can be long, most diners find the wait worthwhile for the flavorful, generously portioned sandwiches. The friendly service and reasonable prices also contribute to its popularity.
"Small Cevapi €5. Onions free. Red sauce .50, cheese .50 (I think), but €1 to add everything. I don't like onions and tomato gives me heartburn so I opted out but the cheese did look good. Service was quick. Bread is amazing. Nice to try something local. I added jalapeno hummus to mine that I had at home because I could but it was freaking delicious. Cash only. Don't miss out.
I just had another bite and they could literally put dirt in this bread and I think I'd like it. So soft and magical."

"There was a short line but it moved pretty fast. The ladies are efficient. I have had quite a few cevapcici and this one is defo amongst the top ones. CASH ONLY though. Not really any seating space besides the benches outside? I got a medium (plus kalmak) for takeaway and it was wrapped very well."

"In our 4 night stay in Split we came here 6 times, food is unreal and fresh. Quick service and a great price compared to other restaurants in the region. Was amazing every time!"

Eat & Drink in Split, Croatia: My Favorite Bites & Sips
Kantun Paulina is a Split institution, serving up ćevapi, Southeastern Europe’s delicious wonder (ignore what it looks like—really, it doesn’t look good), since the late 1960s. Wade past the people crouched around the bench outside, and elbow your way up to the tiny counter and order a ćevapi with everything (cheese, onions, and ajvar [a spread popularized in the former Yugoslavia]). If you’ve traveled in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the ajvar is heresy, but it’s delicious, and you should absolutely enjoy Split’s take on this classic.
A Dummy's Guide to Ćevapi and Where To Eat Them
In business since 1967, Kantun Paulina is one of the oldest ćevapi joints in Split. Due to their long-standing tradition, Paulina are enormously popular with the local crowds. Unlike the other four joints listed in this write-up, Paulina are associated with the so-called Split-style of ćevapi, which, to the dismay of many Bosnians, includes ajvar instead of kajmak and comes with the more doughy version of the lepinja flatbread that has remained popular in Croatia.
Restaurants in Split - Best places to eat in Split
Fast food in the domestic style can be found in Kantun Paulina, which has existed in the city of Split for forty years, so we can freely call them an institution. To come to Split, not to try the ćevape with ajvar and the onion in the lepinja will be really a shame. Although the ćevapi are a typical Bosnian specialty, those from Kantun are simply inimitably “Splitski”.

Up a spot from the last time we checked, Paulina is a trusted local establishment and quite frankly, the only place in Split to get a čevapi sandwich. A classic fast food joint with lines around the corner most of the time, if you can’t grab a seat at Artičok, head to Paulina for a filling (and cheap), meal. Paulina has 469 reviews on TripAdvisor and over 4 stars.
