To Je Tako Mexican Restaurant

Located in a narrow back alley, this cozy little space attracts a young fun crowd with its Dalmatian takes on Mexican and Latin American street food. It offers good food and great prices for lunch and dinner (along with brunch on the weekend), with some gluten-free options.

To Je Tako: If you’re looking for your Mexican fix, there is no better (or other, really) place in town than To Je Tako. Not only does this restaurant include Honduran favorites such as the refried-bean goodness that is anafre, but cheesy jalapeno kickers like bolitas, a classic mole, tex-mex tacos and burritos, chimichangas, flautas, and ropa vieja will have you coming back for more. With delivery as an option for those days Mexican food and Netflix call, if you can get out of bed and into To Je Tako, be sure to try the creative cocktails on offer.

TO JE TAKO is a little paradise of Mexican and Latin American cuisine, embracing a grand vision. The core philosophy here revolves around authenticity, striving to faithfully replicate the exotic flavours: despite the challenges posed by such an effort, they manage to achieve culinary magic by sourcing the freshest local ingredients and carefully selecting imports from Mexico. A bonus is their cultivation of cilantro, ensuring a consistent supply.

This has all but changed in the last few years with restaurants like Zinfandel, Corto Maltese, Articok, O’Zlata, Mazzgoon and Bokeria (just to name a few); then, even more recently we have had some true concept restaurants open with likes of Terminal F, Bokamorra Pizza & Cocktails and To Je Tako. There is now plenty on offer to satisfy most any gastronomer, but there is one aspect which still hasn’t quite caught up – international cuisine.

If you’re looking for something a bit different from the usual fare available here in Split, then look no further than To Je Tako!. Offering Latin American dishes made with, where possible, fresh locally-grown produce, the flavours here are as bright as the decor!. We really love their homemade tortillas (both wheat flour AND corn!) as well as their cocktail specials menu, and they are located right in the heart of Diocletian’s Palace.

If you want a break from traditional Mediterranean food, try Birria Tacos at To Je Tako Mexican Restaurant. While it might seem unusual to seek out Mexican food in a Mediterranean place, their birria tacos are exceptionally delicious and worth a try. The restaurant also allows you to choose three different tacos, and while we sampled the birria and two chicken varieties, the birria tacos were undoubtedly my favorite.

To Je Tako is closed for winter and my friends fought tooth-and-nail for a table at their April re-opening party. After living in Mexico and becoming obsessed with authentic Mexican food, there was no way I was missing soft blue corn tacos!. It’s a small but atmospheric restaurant with quirky Mexican-themed details and live music (although this may have been just for the opening party).

To Je Tako: Mexican food made its way to Split last summer, and while this establishment is hibernating until Spring, it is your go-to for a taste of Mexico at a price that will make your wallet happy. Burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, salad bowls, and even huevos rancheros for brunch are just some of the many options available here - and your belly will be full for around 50 kuna.

If you like eating Latin American foods, sometimes it can be difficult to get these foods, especially in Europe. However, in Split, the To Je Tako restaurant in Diocletian’s palace serves Latin American foods. According to Adventurouskate, the restaurant serves Mexican and Honduran food.
