What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Zinfandel Food & Wine Bistro is celebrated for its sophisticated approach to Croatian cuisine, extensive wine list, and charming ambiance enhanced by live music. While many praise the creative dishes, attentive service, and accommodating staff (especially for dietary needs), some diners have found certain dishes lacking in depth or flavor, and the live music can occasionally be too loud.
"We ordered pasta with prawns, seafood risotto, and mussels. All these dishes weren’t special, but still tasted good. But the real star of “Zinfandel”’s menu is desserts. We chose cheesecake, kadaif cannelloni, and lemon tart — each looked beautiful and was more than just tasty. One point comes for a good service: our waiter was polite, friendly, and attentive. The only problem in this restaurant is the coffee which tastes terrible. Generally, it’s a nice atmosphere in this place, hospitable people, tasty food and live music, so we are delighted."
Olha Vasylchenko
"Excellent dishes. Octopus was prepared to a level I’ve never had. Not chewy, slight sweet and nutty. Well balanced dish with chickpeas olives etc.
The restaurant is curated to a level consistent and expected from Michelin guide restaurants down to the lighting, live music and 10/10 service.
Not stuffy, pushy just a laid back atmosphere that will keep you coming back when you’re in Split.
Highly recommended"

"I’m from Toronto and I’ve come to Split the last two years in a row and Zinfandel is always a non-negotiable restaurant. The food is amazing and the staff is so amazing and hospitable. They remembered me and my friend from the year before and welcomed us with warm greetings.
This most recent year, 2025, we went a total of 3 times within a span of 24 hours.
They are also amazing with accommodating to gluten-free and dairy-free restrictions.
Big thank you to Igor who remembered us from last year. Also thank you to Leon and Marina who served us this year also."

Zinfandel Food and Wine Bar
Just outside the Palace on one of the narrow medieval streets slanting away from Narodni trg, Zinfandel Food and Wine Bar lays down a contemporary gauntlet to all the ancient stonework of Split’s Old Town, with matt-black interior, clever lighting and suave design touches. It’s primarily a wine bar (with a good selection of Dalmatian tipples by the glass) but you also get a menu of Mediterranean food (dainty portions rather than stomach fillers) and some really quite excellent platters for sharing – cold cuts, cheeses and marinated seafood.
The Best Bars In Split Croatia
In the midst of a central Old Town thoroughfare, the upmarket Zinfandel Food and Wine Bar offers over 100 bottled wines (and a range of 30 by the glass) to showcase Croatia’s largely unsung wine heritage. The name reflects the Croatian origins of zinfandel grapes, and oenophiles in particular will relish the emphasis on wines drawn from the country’s most renowned estates and boutique producers. There are daily wine tastings, as well as live music in the evenings and a comprehensive menu for hungry punters.
Top chefs from all over the world have been hitting Split restaurants for the past year, and the first time a chef from a restaurant with 3 Michelin stars has cooked in Split - News
Chefs from Italy, France, Japan, Morocco, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, the UAE and Croatia, awarded with Michelin stars, Gault&Millau caps and other important culinary awards, filled 18 Split restaurants with their evenings: Adriatic Sushi&Oyster Bar, Artičok, Central-Hotel Santa Lucia, Chops Grill - Steak&Seafood, Dujkin dvor, Dvor, Méditerranée - Hotel Ambasador, Noir, Noštromo, Olive Tree, Pandora Greenbox, Pinku Fish&Wine, Štorija, Šug, Zinfandel, Zoi, Zrno Soli i Zora was where it was especially cheerful. The Mediterranean Women Chefs initiative was occupied by six chefs, and their dishes were accompanied by top Kvarner wines under the guidance of five top sommeliers.
Best Wine Bars in Split
Named after the renowned Zinfandel grape variety (whose origins are Croatian!), Zinfandel Food & Wine Bar is a contemporary and stylish establishment located in the heart of Split’s old town. Although at its heart a wine bar, Zinfandel offers a delightful selection of Dalmatian wines by the glass, perfectly complementing the Mediterranean-inspired menu, which features elegantly crafted dishes rather than hearty fillers. For those seeking to savor shared moments and flavors, the bar presents an array of exquisite platters, including tantalizing cold cuts, artisan cheeses, and delectably marinated seafood.
12 Best Restaurants in Split, Croatia: Where to Eat
Tucked into a narrow stone alley just steps from the Riva, Zinfandel is where I really started to understand Croatian wine. The bistro leans heavily into its namesake grape (yes, Zinfandel was born here), but the wine list goes well beyond—highlighting boutique producers from across the country, with plenty available by the glass. It’s approachable, well-curated, and the perfect place to get to know Croatian wine without needing a sommelier certification to navigate it.
The Best Restaurants in Split, Croatia
This cute little wine bar and restaurant is set in the tiny streets of Diocletian’s Palace, we stumbled across it one evening as there was live music playing and a great atmosphere about the place. Turns out they have live music here every evening in the summer and so it does get very busy. Zinfandel’s menu boasts modern Dalmatian cuisine using locally sourced produce, such as lamb and truffles and a huge selection of carefully curated wines.
Biberon, Split: Sushi and Cakes
This has all but changed in the last few years with restaurants like Zinfandel, Corto Maltese, Articok, O’Zlata, Mazzgoon and Bokeria (just to name a few); then, even more recently we have had some true concept restaurants open with likes of Terminal F, Bokamorra Pizza & Cocktails and To Je Tako. There is now plenty on offer to satisfy most any gastronomer, but there is one aspect which still hasn’t quite caught up – international cuisine.
Split for Wine Lovers
Back in Split old town, whether it’s dinner and live music you want, or perfectly presented flights of Croatian wine, you can find it at Zinfandel Food & Wine Bar. A mainstay of the Split wine scene for nine years now, Zinfandel offers 20 to 30 wines by the glass and about 100 by the bottle. Just as important, the staff are educated and enthusiastic about the wines—the key to this friendly, bustling destination in a narrow stone lane.
