Kome is a cool little new restaurant that we found in Punda that has a more modern, Western-style restaurant feel. It was similar to the types of trendy restaurants that we have all over California. The food and the service were both excellent—the waiters were super stoked to have a couple of Americans there (I think they see mostly Dutch locals and tourists) and were about as friendly as you could imagine.

They have an array of liquor and liqueurs, including our Senior’s Tamarind Liqueur, so there is something for everyone.

Kome is not yet labeled as a popular lunch place on Curaçao, but a place like Kome needs no label either. Their dinner menu has earned enough brownie points to make Kome one of the best restaurants on Curaçao and their lunch is equally exceptional. Their dishes are created by sourcing the best local produce on the island and their quality is always above expectation.

This restaurant came up in almost every conversation we had with locals about where to eat in Curaçao. We were not disappointed, and even commented to each other how we would gladly visit Kome frequently if we lived nearby. It’s a classic casual restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and excellent food, conveniently located in downtown Willemstad’s Petermaii district.

Considering that Willemstad is off and on busy based on the arrival of cruise ships, if you have a few days you can see a more "lively" atmosphere or laid back one. When the pontoon bridge is not in service, take the free ferry to cross back and forth, ideally near dusk.

The less thinking you have to do when you arrive, unpack and acclimate, the better. I ended up choosing wisely for a dinner spot in Kome.

Ze hebben een eigen bakkerij, hout gestookte grill en een smoker. Het zal je dus niet verbazen dat er Smoked Brisket op het menu staat en dat die verrukkelijk is. De Chicken & Waffles zijn trouwens ook fantastisch lekker hier en de porties zeer royaal.

The reviews don’t lie: Kome is an excellent restaurant where both the waiting staff and the chef go the extra mile. The restaurant has many repeaters and satisfied guests who like to come back.

Ben je eindelijk in een land waar het altijd mooi weer is, zit je binnen te eten. Als je dat bij Kome doet, is het helemaal niet erg. De inrichting is best gezellig en het eten is erg lekker.

Kome came highly recommend by many locals, but unfortunately we didn’t have time to visit. They’re closed Sundays and Mondays, and we didn’t plan accordingly.

From their sumptuous brunches to their divine dinners, it’s a place that commands you to "kome" and indulge. It's like a warm hug for your stomach.
