Reviews Summary

Bakeshop is celebrated for its wide array of delicious baked goods, particularly its renowned carrot cake and diverse pastry selection. While many appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and unique seating, some find the prices slightly steep. The café offers a good spot for breakfast or light lunches, with friendly service.

"There is so much choice here for drinks and food that there is something for everyone.

There is window seating at each window and if you crawl under the table, you will find comfy seating above the box radiators too.

Relaxed atmosphere. Good value for money. Great for breakfast or light lunches."

"A friend recommended to check this place out. Overall, it was okay. Ordered the Cornish chicken pastry. It was edible but not something I'd try again. Atmosphere was good. Location is good too. Prices were a little steep, but seem to be in line with other eateries in the area."

C. K.

"I have found this place 10 years ago accidentally, and fell in love with their brownies immediately.
📍Place: located only a few steps from the the Old Town, quite spacious, modern atmosphere.
🍛 Food: I have tried the carrot cake and the cranberry brownies of course... Both of them are gooey, sweet, not dry at all, very flavourful.
👩🏻‍🍳 Service: there is counter service, they are quick and kind."

A pleasantly airy American-style bakery and café counter, Bakeshop Praha sells familiar U.S. favorites, from avocado BLTs to entire pumpkin pies. Though it gets crowded during peak lunch hours, there is indoor seating, and the space, with penny-tiled floors and ceiling moldings, has a retro charm. But the takeaway sandwiches, bagels, giant cookies, and good coffee make it easy to grab and go.

15 Best Breakfast Places in Prague (2025) recommended by a local

This is a lovely upmarket bakery in the quirky streets behind the Old Town Square, baking delicious breakfast pastries, bread and cakes. The breakfast works slightly differently here – you can pick anything from the menu (eggs, bacon, ham, tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese, roasted potatoes, onion or spinach) and the end price is calculated based on weight (75 CKZ for 100 grams). In my experience this works out about the same as if you had a set menu somewhere else (slightly upmarket), so budget about 150-200 CZK per person for a large breakfast.

Eating Prague

A pastry shop that we returned to each day of our stay was the aptly named Bakeshop. They had a huge selection of cakes, cookies and pastries, but what had us coming back each day was the amazing fruit galette. I had a plum and apple and a cherry and apple one during my stay, and both were delicious (also pictured is a walnut calvados tart and a couple of cookies for Mr Man).
