Diners consistently praise Kuchyň for its absolutely stunning panoramic views of Prague, especially captivating during sunset. The food is frequently described as phenomenal, offering traditional Czech cuisine with a modern touch, and is considered very reasonably priced for the quality and location. Service is highlighted as friendly and attentive, contributing to an overall awesome dining experience.
"Arguably, this restaurant has the best view in the whole of Prague. There might be other contenders for the best view, but from a food standpoint, this was the best restaurant for me.
Everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was very warm and friendly. It's good to have access to the kitchen where you can see all the lovely dishes being prepared and plated :)
If you do not want to have a meal, you can order some lovely beer and enjoy the view. It's all up to you."

"This place was recommended by a young lady from Prague of whom rode the train with us from Vienna. She said it was a good traditional place and up next to castle with spectacular views. It was all of this. We went just as soon as we got checked into hotel and was barely able to get a table. We actually dined at a shared long table in the kitchen prep area which was even nicer. Started out with their creamed asparagus soup-one of the best I've had. Brought to table with the hot broth poured over ingredients to finish the soup. The beef neck(similar to pot roast) with dumplings (steamed bread) and cabbage was very heart and satisfying. The other dish was roast duck leg and steamed dumpling and had a wonderful and satisfying taste. Finished off with their chocolate cake (similar to a lava cake) with rich dark yummy warm dark chocolate sauce poured over and a small scoop of vanila ice cream. Hungry yet? Please do make reservations and take time to take in the views-you'll not be disappointed. Photos show scenes from just outside restaurant."

"What a great dining experience. We turned up without a reservation. Food was phenomenal. Simple small menu done very well. With seasonal options.
Staff were friendly and the service was fast. It was fairly busy around 8pm and tables were turning relatively quickly. At no point did we feel rushed. Views outside were amazing.
Highly reccomend."

Restaurants in Prague
It may no longer be the novel, menu-less restaurant of old—the COVID pandemic put an end to the concept of people choosing their meals from communal pots—but this castle-side restaurant still serves up great, traditional Czech cuisine. Take a seat and order from a small menu of dishes ranging from fresh cow's cheese with pickled vegetables to duck leg with rustic bread dumplings and red cabbage. Although most of the mains are meaty, there's always at least one vegetarian option.
The Top Restaurants In Prague, Czech Republic
Just outside the entrance to Prague Castle, Kuchyň doesn’t have a menu, so you have to select dishes by lifting the lids of pots on the stove and letting your senses guide you. While the selection is limited, it’s a trade-off for the quality of the freshly prepared food and the novelty of being able to choose it this way. The location is spectacular too.
The Top Restaurants in Prague
Kuchyň's (Czech for kitchen) Chef Marek Janouch aims to make your dining experience here as close to being in the kitchen as possible. The interior is sparse and contemporary so that the star of the show truly is your meal, but during the warmer months, you can reserve a table on the terrace for unrivaled views of the city. Pay one price and be treated to a four-course meal; you’ll start with a shot of homemade honey liqueur, followed by a selection of appetizers like chicken liver pate, and farmer’s cheese, then a soup course (their mushroom soup is divine).
Best Beer Gardens in Prague
While it had a rough start, Kuchyň which originally set out to offer a truly traditional eating experience at the steps of the Prague Palace, has now changed its game plan and seems to have found its market and niche. The restaurant sits just off Hradčanské namesti, which is the square outside the Prague Palace gates. They have several dining rooms within the building, but more importantly (for those reading here), they also have two levels of outdoor spaces.
Best Prague Lunch Spots (2024)
Výčep Restaurant in the Prague district of Vinohrady is currently among my favorite establishments. On the lunch menu, which changes every week, you can find modernly prepared traditional Czech dishes. For lunch, you can enjoy, for example, beef broth with a giant liver dumpling, mushroom soup, liver sausage with mashed potatoes, stuffed dumpling, or the popular Dutch schnitzel from Prestice pork (Dutch schnitzel is also Czech food).
Best restaurants in Prague - Falstaff
Headed up by chef Marek Janouch, Kuchyň’s hearty Czech fare tempts even locals to negotiate the crowds and visit the scenic Castle district. Choose from the three-course menu to enjoy the restaurant’s savoury highlights, including pork neck with potato salad, cranberries and pickled cucumbers. Yet, it’s also worth saving space for the sweet dumplings served with helpings of poppy seeds, sugar and butter.
What to Have and Where to Have it
Another great version can be served at Kuchyn in the Prague Castle district, but the fact is that the concept of the restaurant relies on frequent changes in the menu, so you can never know if they will have it. Finally, the dill sauce with pork tongue at Vycep in the Vinohrady district is a fantastic modern update on the classic. That said, calling that dish traditional would be a bit of a stretch.
Cafes and restaurants | National Gallery Prague
Newly, you may enjoy one of the finest views of Prague while savouring quality food and drink. A team from Ambiente, a fixture of Czech gastronomy, led by chef Marek Janouch prepares traditional Czech cuisine using aristocratic recipes. You can choose from one of the meals warming up in large copper pots on the great stove; in summer, you can stave off hunger with one of the grilled dishes.
Prague from Above: A Rooftop Guide
Kuchyň, which translates simply as ‘kitchen’ is one of the most recent and most vibrant restaurants on Prague’s culinary map. While it is not a rooftop restaurant per se, it is in the area of the Prague Castle on the premises of the National Gallery of Prague, which is on one of the highest points in Prague. So, enjoying a lovely meal on the restaurant’s terrace is bound to be amazing!

For anyone heading to Prague Castle, there’s no better lunch spot on a sunny day than Kuchyň. You’ll find some of the best Czech food in Prague here, hands down, paired with one of the best views in Prague. Head Chef Marek Janouch is serving up modern Czech classics; pair it with their carefully treated tank beer for the traditional Czech food platter.
Good eating in Prague's tourist center: Food, drink, and great gardens
If you're craving authentic Czech cuisine paired with one of the best views in Prague, Kuchyň at Prague Castle is the place to be. During the summer months, the garden seating is highly sought after, so it's wise to make a reservation. As for what to order, if you have a sweet tooth, the sourdough dumplings with seasonal fruit are an absolute must-try.
74 tips on where to eat in Prague: restaurants, cafes and bakeries
If you want to give up on your visit to pay tribute to Czech cuisine, we suggest you head to the Castle (one of Prague's main monuments) and have a lunch of sirloin steak or dill pickle at Kuchyň. Hladinka (a popular Czech beer measure) and breathtaking views of Prague are commonplace here. Reservations are recommended.
Patrik's 5 favorite restaurants in Prague
Located just outside of the Prague Castle, Kuchyň offers magnificient views on Prague. The name which means kitchen in czech reffers to the style in which you order food in the restaurant. The waitress walks you to the kitchen where on the stoves you see the meals ready.
Unique Experiences Beyond the Traditional
Although it is in an undeniably touristy area, Kuchyň doesn’t feel like a touristy kind of restaurant. It is located in Hradčanské Square next to the Prague Castle entrance. A discreet walkway next to the Salmovský Palace leads to the restaurant in the back.
