Reviews Summary

La Cabra is celebrated for its exceptional coffee and delightful pastries, with many hailing it as a must-visit coffee destination. The minimalist and cozy ambiance provides a relaxing atmosphere, though some reviews mention long queues and higher prices. While most praise the quality, a few diners found the coffee to be bitter or sour, and some pastries lacking in flavor.

"Simply the best coffee I’ve ever had. I’m a huge coffee fan and have tried coffee all over the world, but nothing compares to La Cabra. I’ve been following them for years, so visiting their shop in Aarhus — their birthplace — was a special experience.

The coffee was exceptional. The music was at the perfect volume, the aesthetics of the space were beautiful, and the staff were professional and genuinely attentive. My girlfriend, who loves coffee even more than I do, even got emotional. That says it all.

A must-visit for any true coffee lover."

Jeremias Perez

"Very friendly staff, they spoke multiple languages which is helpful if a tourist. Cappuccino and almond croissant were excellent! Atmosphere is relaxing, very zen with a beautiful view of the cobblestone street and Bishop Square steeple!"

McKenzie S

"Super overrated. Maybe also a little inflated expectations, due to the great reviews and recommendations anywhere you look. The coffee was far from the best I’ve ever had. I would even rank it among the lowest ones. It was incredibly bitter and sour and not the bitter from good beans, but bitter from not cleaning the machine well enough.

The cardamom snurre was lacking in flavour and you can get much better ones in Aarhus. Honestly, the best thing was the yoghurt and that was incredibly inflated in price for the portion we got.

The tables are tiny and whoever decided that the people should wait in the middle of the entrance and not off to the side of the door deserves a prize, honestly"

11 Top Cafés And Coffee Shops In Aarhus

Located in the picturesque Latin Quarter, La Cabra is the perfect place to start your day with a delicious breakfast or make a pitstop and warm up while exploring the historic city center. The award-winning coffee shop is decorated in a minimal way, exactly how the Scandinavian style requires. So, it’s no wonder it is a hangout for design lovers and the city’s hipster crowd.

Aarhus, Denmark: what to see, plus the best restaurants, bars and hotels | Aarhus holidays

At this cool cafe in the Latin Quarter, well-trained baristas promise a “Nordic coffee experience”. That begins with beans bought directly from farms and lightly roasted on site to retain their natural aromas and flavours. Fashionable without being intimidating, La Cabra is always packed, and its toasted sourdough sandwiches are especially good.

Word of Mouth: Eco-Conscious Dining in Aarhus, Denmark

New Yorkers might recognize La Cabra as one of the newest coffee shops in the East Village (they also have locations in Copenhagen and Bangkok), but the original location is in Aarhus. La Cabra can be found in the city’s charming Latin Quarter, a cobblestoned neighborhood that dates back to the late 14th century and is inspired, in part, by the Latin Quarter of Paris’ 5th arrondissement. There, they serve their own excellent coffee and single-origin chocolate bars, and bake some of the most mouthwatering cardamom buns, cinnamon rolls, naturally leavened sourdough and hand-laminated croissants.

Why Design Lovers Should Visit Aarhus, Denmark

From casual cafés to Michelin-starred fine dining, Aarhus has it all. For excellent brews, head to local favorite La Cabra in the Latin Quarter or Great Coffee, a roastery and tasting room where award-winning barista Søren Stiller Markussen roasts his own beans sourced from small farms in Latin America and experiments with things like coffee syrups and peach-infused cold brew. For a casual lunch or dinner, stop by Aarhus Street Food, where vendors serve everything from Danish comfort food to artisanal falafels out of shipping containers in a buzzing space with communal seating.

What to do in Aarhus - Denmark

In nearly every blog and video I watched before going to Aarhus people praised La Cabra, their coffee and the Kardemommesnurre, a baked good similar to a cinnamon roll, but no cinnamon, instead with cardamom. When I went there it was extremely underwhelming. Not only was it (expectedly) packed with people, the coffee was both incredibly bitter (in the “they aren’t cleaning properly in between pours so the coffee grounds burn” way) and incredibly sour and the baked good tasted like milk bread that had been stored next to cardamom.
