What Travellers Say

Reviews Summary

Noma offers a truly exceptional and creative gastronomic experience, consistently rated as one of the best in the world. Diners rave about the innovative dishes, spectacular produce, and unique flavor combinations, often describing it as a once-in-a-lifetime meal. While the experience is overwhelmingly positive, some note that dessert courses could be stronger, and minor service details like napkin shedding have been mentioned.

"Totally lived up to the hype. We went in skeptical and were immediately impressed. Easily top 5 for me after many many 3* restaurants. The food was fantastic but what really made noma incredible was the service and atmosphere. Everything felt like clockwork but also genuine and warm at the same time."

Alex Small

"Ever since I could afford to travel and try the best food in the world, Noma has been at the top of the list. For over half a decade, I have been trying to get a booking, no matter what season, and I’ve been panicked since I heard the rumours of their imminent closure. Despite all that, after years of trying, a booking for Noma 2.0’s Summer Season finally was in the cards. I was a bit skeptical going into this, with the expectation of it being the “best meal of my life” so far. I love meat, so I was a bit worried with the vegetable focused menu. Boy, was I completely caught with my pants down.

Long story short, Noma does live up to its reputation and has claimed its title, in my books, as the best meal of my life so far. I think the careful consideration of the produce, the specialization of Noma’s fermentation techniques, as well as the attention to detail by the staff, truly showcases why Noma deserves the flowers it’s been getting for the better part of two decades. If we’re being nitpicky, the dessert courses were a bit lacking, with the second nut ice cream dessert doing the heavy lifting (absolutely a favourite dessert from recent memory). Speaking on the savoury courses, I’ve typically come to notice a pattern with Michelin/fine dining. There will be a handful of dishes that are pretty “meh”, a good chunk of “wow that’s good”, and maybe, just maybe one or two “holy that’s amazing”. Noma’s savoury dishes had a “holy that’s amazing” almost entirely across the board. I can maybe think of 1 or 2 that were “wow that’s good” and no “meh” dishes. To highlight my absolute favourites: the wasabi leaf bouquet, the rose octopus with peaso sauce, and my absolute favourite dish, the flower salad with caramelized barley koji. To further add to that, the service provided by the staff is bar none, the best we’ve received. From warm welcomes, enthusiastic explanations, and even making note of our pace and matching it accordingly, their attention to detail truly is one-of-a-kind

I’m truly grateful to have dined at Noma and really understood how they’ve come to impact the food scene globally. I highly recommend making the journey here, I know that if I’m lucky to get a reservation for Game & Forest Season, I’ll drop everything to make it!"

Edwin Philippe Alegre

"A truly remarkable restaurant, which I cannot recommend enough. We were there for ocean season and as expected every dish was unexpected and remarkable. It was a very well balanced menu, with more experimental dishes balanced by more traditional dishes. We felt very at ease at the friendly and more casual atmosphere and we were truly impressed by the thoughtfulness, quality, fun, thoughtfulness, novelty and balance in the entire menu. The pairing was excellent as well. I cannot wait to see what happens next at Noma. Thanks!"

Noma was founded with the aim of reinventing Nordic gastronomy; it showed the world the true Danish passion for flavor and the restaurant was acclaimed as the best in the world a mere six years after opening. Today it offers one of the most sought after dining experiences in Europe with its meticulous focus on creativity, ingredients and design. Anthony Bourdain in Copenhagen: 4 Spots Where Tony Ate

For those not familiar with the concept, Noma is famous for its highly foraged menu; the goal is to use entirely regional ingredients, mostly within 60 miles of the restaurants. This means it’s often unusual – and even Bourdain is challenged to eat with an open mind. Among many dishes he tries, some highlights I loved included reindeer moss with mushroom; æbleskiver (round pancake) with pickled cucumber and herring filling; sourdough bread with “virgin butter”; potatoes cooked in fermented barley with Finnish sturgeon roe; fermented herring stuffed with molded grains with juniper and lingonberry; and pork skin and chocolate with freeze-dried blueberries.

Rene Redzepi’s 2-star-Michelin Noma surely needs no introduction: this global tour de force of nouveau-Scandi cuisine is truly an institution, with a finely tuned seasonal menu focusing on three distinct seasons: from January to late spring, a seafood-centric menu featuring the freshest finds in the ocean; an emphasis on vegetable dishes in the summer months (no meat or fish), and game and forest season, from early fall to January, highlighting meats and foraged produce. Book your reservations several months in advance of going. Their new ‘permanent’ spot in Christiania is just across from the pedestrian bridge at the foot of Nyhavn.

Why this tiny Copenhagen bakery is considered one of the world’s best

When Hart decided to move to the Danish capital, he received the support of the world number one restaurant Noma – because, of course, they had to have the best bread for themselves. (Hart Bageri began baking out of Noma’s kitchens in the east of the city.) A plucky, mid-twenties Richard-Carvajal – after she’d completed training at Le Cordon Bleu in London, followed by a grueling but transformative stint in the kitchen at Claridge’s – then decided to knock on the door and ask Richard for a coffee. “He took me to Noma where he was baking bread out of their greenhouses and told me he was going to start a bakery,” she recalls.
