Reviews Summary

Restaurant Palæggade is widely praised for its exceptional smørrebrød and refined Danish cuisine, with many highlighting the impeccable service and elegant yet comfortable atmosphere. While generally lauded for its quality and presentation, some diners noted that wine prices can be on the higher side, and portions may be on the smaller side, suggesting ordering multiple plates.

"Palaegade seems to be universally considered as the best Smorrebrod restaurant. I guess one of the reasons is that it’s hellishly difficult to be a fancy restaurant with open face sandwiches ) Granted, there is plenty of other food at Palaegade, we, being proper tourists, came for the smorrebrod.

As far as anyone could have perfected the art of the Danish sandwich, these guys certainly have done more than I would probably ever imagine. Every ingredient is treated on its own and taken to the max and then combined on a piece of bread (sometimes simple, sometimes fancy) to create a proper perfect sandwich.

You will find all the best staple ingredients here: fried fish, shrimp, smoked herring, chicken, peas, asparagus, potatoes etc. It’s almost pointless to describe in detail, just please do come.

Left some photos from our first visit here for fun )"

"We came here for a celebration dinner. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The staff could not be and more charming or delightful. We chose the 5 course tasting menu. From the first bite to the last morsels everything was delicious and well though out. Service was impeccable. I recommend dining here."

"Quite possibly the best smørrebrød I’ve ever had! We didn’t have a reservation and tried to get in on a Friday afternoon. Restaurant was packed and we waited for about 15 mins for a table that didn’t show up. Lucky us!

Highly recommend the dishes here that we have tried. We liked it so much we wanted to order a 2nd portion of the tomato dish but unfortunately the kitchen was already closed.

We enjoyed our time here so much we are planning to visit again, hopefully for dinner in the next week."
