Now grown to several locations around Santa Marta, this branch in a quieter corner of the Parque de los Novios has a superb seafood selection backed up by a smooth jazz soundtrack. Grilled fish dishes are excellent, as are the ceviches. Service varies between attentive and friendly to quite distracted, but the ambience and fresh fish make it worth it.

It always makes sense to try some seafood when visiting a seaside town, and the freshly caught fare of Donde Chucho is widely regarded as the best in the city. Ceviche is the crowd favorite at this relatively upscale eatery, though the calamari, shrimp and octopus are worthy of a mention too.

Imposible estar en la costa caribe y no entrar a Donde Chucho, no solo tiene un gran renombre entre los locales, pero su larga experiencia, hacen de este lugar uno de los preferidos para visitar, por personajes famosos nacionales e internacionales. Tienen varios locales en la ciudad, mi favorito, el que se encuentra en el Parque de los Novios, alguno de los platos estrellas: Salmon al ajillo y coctel de camarón, no se olvide de pedirlo con una deliciosa michelada!

Solo fue que pisará Santa Marta para que los amigos de la comunidad empezaran a hablarme de Chucho y de sus exitosos restaurantes en el Rodadero y en Centro de la Ciudad!. “Tienes que conocerlo”, me escribían insistentemente desde todos los rincones de Colombia!. Pues bien, y aunque prometí no salir del Hotel Irotama, cedí a la insistencia, y pedí reservación para su restaurante del Parque de los Novios: “Donde Chucho Gourmet”.

Firstly, they make masterpieces; secondly, they make you feel very special with their attention, and finally, because this restaurant highlights the essence of the sea and the city.

Monday to Saturday Prices: from 20000 COP to 45000 COP It’s a large restaurant where you will enjoy all kind of marine and shellfish dishes quite tasty as langostinos al cayeye o la casuela de mariscos. Some people say that it’s a little bit expensive and the service is not so good, although people say that this happens with all the restaurants of the coast.

In Parque de los Novios sits Donde Chucho Gourmet, an all-around beachy Colombian vibe with delicious food. Online it’s described as an “unassuming, colorful seafood restaurant offering homestyle meals and outdoor seating,” but that depiction doesn’t do it justice. The menu is overwhelming in the best way, with 20+ pages of affordable dining options.

Donde Chucho es un bar que destaca por su autenticidad y ambiente relajado. If you’re looking for a good fish and seafood restaurant, you can head to a place on Parque de Los Novios called Donde Chucho, which also has a branch in El Rodadero. We sat outside on the park and really enjoyed every minute of our meal. If you try one seafood restaurant in Santa Marta, make sure it’s Donde Chucho.

For some of the city’s best seafood try the lovely courtyard restaurant Donde Chucho, in front of Parque Santander. Or try the French eatery Basiliea, also in the laidback town center. For sheer romance, indulge in a sunset dinner in the clifftop Burukuka, near El Rodadero.

On one side of Parque de Los Novios, Santa Marta's main restaurant square is another outdoor location: Donde Chucho Gourmet. I enjoyed their seafood, a mero fish filet, and, on another evening, ceviche. They almost always have live music.

The restaurant is great, ideal to go with family or friends. The food is tasty and the atmosphere is very pleasant. There are indoor and outdoor tables, it is located next to the Parque de los Novios and there is almost always live music.
