Telliskivi Loomelinnak or just “Telliskivi” as locals say (the other bit means “creative city”) is a fascinating collection of old railway buildings (though those same locals posit that there was actually secret military manufacture going on here, too) near Tallinn’s main station. Today’s it’s home to creatives’ studios, nightclubs, a cycle shop that doubles as a bar (jooks.cc). One of the first businesses to move here was little restaurant F Hoone, which has a relaxed vibe, bare brick walls, traditonal Estonian grub, and a helpful map of Tallinn printed across the floor.

F-Hoone‘s industrial location will definitely catch your attention, and the inspired menu will hold it. Situated in a revived old factory building and furnished almost entirely from recycled and reused materials, this striking venue perfectly encapsulates the DIY renaissance era that’s swept over Kalamaja, turning it into Tallinn’s most exciting neighborhood. Those who are drawn to the space by its cool aesthetic won’t be disappointed by its trendy yet affordable menu.

While Telliskivi never really escapes its post-Soviet industrial shackles (its only interesting buildings are the pre-Soviet ones such as the limestone F-Hoone), Rotermann has transcended its Baltic-German industrial roots to become something quite new and different. Rotermann also benefits from the fact that its buildings are more closely packed together which creates a much more urban-feeling space while Telliskivi’s Soviet buildings are separated by wide-open (and largely empty) spaces,. Yes, both factory complexes have their own post-industrial appeal – Telliskivi serving as a magnet for twenty-somethings while Rotermann’s more upscale approach seems to attract the thirty-something crowd – or those who have made it and have larger disposable incomes.

First stop was F-hoone for lunch, where I chug water because I’ve had a thousand coffees at this point, and order pumpkin-chickpea falafel with rocket-quinoa salad and cashew cream. Next, exploring: Stella Soomlais for vegetable-dyed leather goods, Valhalla Factory in a shipping container for home goods inspired by nature, and vintage stores galore. The main Telliskivi warehouse is filled with boutiques, including my two favorites: Homeart, for budget-friendly Swedish and Danish interior design, and Les Petites, which carries the best of Baltic makers.

Close to Pudel Baar (above) in the cool Telliskivi Loomelinnak Creative City near to the main station, you will find "F-Block", an all-in-one family-friendly canteen restaurant, bar and events space. Located in an imposing 100 year old industrial building, it's so popular, you'll need to book ahead for a table. In saying that, drinks at the bar or on the terrace outside in the old factory yard are usually possible however, and with a huge craft beer and liquor list, it should still be on your Tallinn bar crawl even if you're not dining.

But now we leave the Old Town in Tallinn and head just outside of it to the trendy Telliskivi area. Once the railway hub, much of this part of the city has now been transformed into a bustling ecosystem of independent, creative, local and eco-focused businesses. From tech start-ups to sustainable fashion brands and great places to eat and drink, Telliskivi is definitely worth a visit during your time in Tallinn, and one of the best places to eat here is Restaurant F-Hoone.

F-Hoone (Building F) is an institution and community gathering spot in Telliskivi – the artsy, creative area of Tallinn. Owned and operated by the hipster couple Priit Juurmann (aka DJ P.Julm) and Yoko Alender, who also run Frank Bistro and its cocktail bar, Frank Underground. F-Hoone is located in a former military factory compound that has been renovated – but only minimally, in order to preserve the original look.

Located in an old industrial building in the heart of Telliskivi Creative City, the ambience in F-hoone is remarkable. A spacious restaurant with incredibly high ceilings, contemporary artworks (like a colossal head of Voltaire made of reused materials mounted on the wall) and tall windows that illuminate the space stunningly. Their menu offers a wide array of options, from meatbased dishes to vegan options.

One such café is F-Hoone, a veritable Tallinn institution with a huge area both inside and out. It serves good value meals and drinks, with an all-day menu to suit a range of occasions. I enjoyed a late “Kalamaja Breakfast,” which involved smoked salmon, fried egg, bacon, hash browns and avocado, plus toasted bread with curried hummus and red pepper cream cheese for spreading purposes.

End your day with a delicious dinner at F-Hoone (‘Building F’), a popular restaurant located within Telliskivi Loomelinnak. We made a reservation just in case, but it turned out we didn’t need it for a Sunday evening for only two people. If you’re a large group or visiting on a Friday or Saturday night then I would recommend making a reservation just in case!

F-Hoone is one of those cool places that everyone raves about and from it’s comfortable shabby chic decor, could just as easily be located in Berlin. Set in a former industrial warehouse, the hip and popular café is just as suitable for a leisurely brunch as it for dinner in the evening. Here for lunch, I opted for a burger served with homemade fries.

At F-Hoone, located in Telliskivi Creative City, we got to experience a very stimulating dinner in industrial settings with cool and colourful decor. The food was delicious and prices surprisingly inexpensive. F-Hoone was packed and it took quite a while to get a table and another while to get our food but despite I will revisit!

It’s hipster central, and the place is jam-packed with diners at all hours of morning into mid-day. The menu is wonderful, with plenty of veg options (naturally), plus great craft beers and specialty coffees.

From the 60s style orange lights to the colourful floor and brick walls, the vibe is cosy and relaxed. Make sure to book at weekends or you’re unlikely to get in without a long wait. There are some delicious food dishes such as halibut fillet with pak choi, black olive crumbs and a creamy white bean and celery sauce.

Just around the corner from The Brick Coffee Roastery is F-Hoone, one of the most popular restaurants in Telliskivi. Unlike most Tallinn cafes, this old industrial building, which is over a century old, offers plenty of space. I only had drinks here, but the menu (featuring an all-day breakfast) looks great.

The best meal we had was at this restaurant in the Kalamajar district, which is the hipster district in Tallinn. The place is definitely a hipster hangout, but the food is more on par with fine dining. I had fantastic beef cheeks with puréed and roasted cauliflower and Charles warmed up with some ramen.

Set in the former railway construction shed, this is a local beloved eatery!. Kitchen is European with a quirky twist here and there, prices are great and the vibe is cool, hip and artistic. This is one of the OG places in here and as the locals gravitate towards it, be prepared for it to get busy.

Located in the hipster Telliviski Creative Park, this is one of the most popular restaurants in Tallinn. So be sure to make a booking for a table, especially if you want to come on the weekends or a Friday night. F-Hoone has a little bit of something for everyone at every time of day.

The choice of fillings is very rich and everyone can find something to their liking. If you couldn't resist and ordered more than you could eat, don't be shy and ask to pack the remaining food for you :) This place will be perfect for lunch or late breakfast as it is open from 11 a.m.

This was the first restaurant I visited in Tallinn and I loved it!. It is located in the creative center Telliskivi, which alone is worth a visit. Besides the delicious delicious mushroom pierogi at F-Hoone of course.

Set in a renovated factory building, F-Hoone offers a trendy setting with a diverse menu, including vegetarian and vegan options. The industrial-chic vibe and delicious food make it a local favorite.

F-Hoone – F-Hoone is the ultimate place to enjoy Silgusoust. A type of Baltic seafood, Silgusoust is served with acid sauce. Served with meat, F-Hoone also has an amazing dish known as confit duck.

F-Hoone is perhaps one of the nicest lunch spots in Telliskivi. From the outside it looks like you step into an old train station. Inside there are a few spaces with tables and nice sitting areas.

An old warehouse tastefully converted into a cosy café/restaurant, retro style. This place is very popular among Tallinners and gets very busy at weekends. Menu features some vegan items.

It is a real hipster loft, equipped in one of the workshops of the former radio factory building. Most dishes are cooked on grill, even Caesar salad. Excellent kebab is made of pork.

F-hoone is a trendy spot in Telliskivi, offering all-day breakfast, vegetarian dishes, and a laid-back vibe. Evenings get livelier, especially on the terrace in warmer months.

F-Hoone would fit right in, in my own neighborhood with its grungey, graffiti-ed, warehouse exterior, and dark, moody lighting. And the food, the food, the food!

Näljäne Põder close to Balti Jaam market is an affordable and authentic canteen. The Taco truck between F-Hoone and Lendav Taldrik is also reasonably priced.

Its courtyard terrace is always full of life — from brunch to late dinners. Casual, friendly, and full of soul — a true Telliskivi classic.
