What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Café de la Table Ronde is lauded for its exceptional food, warm hospitality, and historically rich ambiance. Diners praise the authentic regional flavors and attentive service, making it a must-visit in Grenoble. However, some reviews suggest inconsistent service in the bar area, with one diner reporting an unacceptable lack of attention.
"La Table Ronde is one of the oldest restaurants in France, dating back to 1739 and it is located in the heart of Grenoble’s old town in a nice quiet square. The restaurant specializes in traditional French cuisine, with a focus on local Alpine dishes, giving you a true taste of the region such as Gratin Dauphinois or Ravioles du Royans. They also have two kids menu’s. Under 6s for €9 and kids up to 12 for €12. The food was good, and good portion sizes too. What I loved about this restaurant is the value. The have a two course menu for €20. The mountain charcuterie starter was perfect.
And the wine was very reasonably with an extensive menu. We had a bottle of Beaujolias for €24.
It has a cozy, authentic atmosphere, with wood-paneled walls and a warm, welcoming vibe. It’s perfect for a relaxed family meal. It also has a bar next door."

"We had a wonderful family meal at Café de la Table Ronde in Grenoble – there were six of us, including two young children, and the whole experience was a delight from start to finish.
The service stood out as especially warm, attentive and helpful, without ever feeling overbearing. The staff were kind and patient with the children, and we really appreciated the thoughtful kids' menu, which included some great options beyond the usual basics.
I had the St Jacques (scallops) served on ravioli with saffron sauce and roasted vegetables—a truly delicious dish. The ravioli, which I understand is a regional specialty, was absolutely top-notch. My daughter had the children’s version with a creamy cheese sauce, and it was just as tasty.
For dessert, I chose the Blueberry Iced Vacherin, another local specialty. It was a beautiful combination of blueberry sorbet, meringue, Chantilly cream and almonds—light, sweet, and totally satisfying.
Overall, this was a lovely dining experience with authentic regional flavours, warm hospitality, and excellent value. Would highly recommend!"

A perfect day in Grenoble
Normal people would probably recommend a nice little bar to end your perfect day in Grenoble. I however recommend watching an independent film in the cute underground movie theatre La Nef. This cinema makes you feel like back in the 50’s and it’s so tiny that you cannot even buy popcorn (bring your own snacks, guys).
