Reviews Summary

La Table Du 2 offers a visually stunning dining experience with its exceptional views of the Nîmes Arena and sophisticated ambiance. While many praise the excellent food, particularly seasonal dishes and seafood, some diners find the portions small and the prices high. Service quality can be inconsistent, with occasional issues of inattentiveness or slow pacing, though positive interactions with staff are also noted.

"Excellent food, warm welcome, and quality service. Dishes were well prepared and presented, very tasty. We really enjoyed the meal."

Wanda Chui

"The food was wonderful. We had steak (their most expensive dish) and it was just a huge amount of meat. And it was amazing. Soft. Juicy accompanied with some morels. Just great. The restaurant has an amazing view on one of the biggest attractions of the Nimes - Arenes de Nimes. We were seated at the time of the business lunch even without reservation.
The service could be a little bit better. Everything is fine except waiting time.
Also there is an amazing rooftop with free access, don't forget to visit it. There is a wonderful view of the city from above"

German Mikheev

"Food: signature menu- was tasty but I expected a bit more
Service: waiters need solid training, new uniforms and have to learn how to serve people.Im surprised how inattentive they were, and how messy the table was during our meal. At the end without asking us first if we wanted anything the waiter showed up with a bill and said that they were closing - it was 23:10 ( they officially close at 00:00)
I'm not sure how this place got a Michelin star
Atmosphere: relaxing with a nice view"

Nimes, flavours and delights of authentic Mediterranean culture

Having not been back to Nimes for five years, I found one of the best reasons to return to this Occitan city. And that is the brand new Musée de la Romanité, a modern museum that is educational and interactive for all ages, with over 5000 items on show from the Roman past of this part of Gaul. What I never expected was that at the top of that museum I would find myself eating a wonderful tataki of tuna as part of a menu for all budgets in a fabulous restaurant with views (I would say the best views) of the Roman amphitheatre.

Restaurant Le Vatel

This contemporary brasserie – part of the Musée de la Romanité – is perfectly in tune with the architecture of the building. It offers an unobstructed view of the Arènes de Nîmes (or amphitheatre), as well as a seasonal menu overseen by Michelin-starred chef Franck Putelat. Tuck into true traditional French cuisine: egg meurette (in a red wine sauce); calf sweetbreads and mashed potatoes with Maury jus; trout meunière; and even the iconic crêpes Suzette...

How to spend 48 hours in the picturesque city of Nîmes

For dinner that evening, I visited Le Table du 2 Restaurant, with two Michelin stars to its name. Located on the rooftop of the Musee de la Romanité, I opted to go for the summer menu – a three-course meal consisting of calf’s head terrine with potatoes and gribche sauce for starters, the main course being duck breast with artichoke, hazelnut and apicus sauce and a fruit rice pudding with coulis and mango sorbet.

Nîmes - Romans, Gastronomy and Crocodiles

There is a small cafe on the ground floor, but up on the top is a fantastic restaurant, La Table du 2, where I sat next to the balcony, eating delicious food and drinking wine with a view over the Arena and rooftops in the distance. It was shady, peaceful and a truly civilised way to end a visit to such a fantastic museum.
