What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bistrot Des Tournelles is celebrated for its authentic French bistro fare, executed exceptionally well in a cozy and lively atmosphere. Diners rave about classic dishes and attentive service. However, one reviewer noted an uncomfortable experience when asked to add a tip directly, which felt out of place for the restaurant's otherwise high standards.
"Maybe Emily was here, maybe not. I have just seen some episodes and it was horrible. But if not, the makers of that Show missed the best bistrot in Paris, serving a handful of wonderful dishes with a touch of Beaujolais style. All the dishes served at out table excelled highest expectations, the crew was super friendly and the atmosphere a fair 10 out of 10.
Make sure to make a reservation well in advance - meaning at least 2-3 weeks."

"Really good bistro gastronomic, French classics done really really well. But definitely on the pricy end of things. Steak, Beef stew, foie gras, salad, and crème brûlée were really good. Service was just ok and location is quite small. Would recommend if you're looking for a great authentic French experience, but at a price! We paid 50 ish per person without drinks. If you do want to book, do it a month in advance. Very popular tourist location"

"Really enjoyed our meal at Bistrot Des Tournelles—the food was wonderful, and the service was very professional and attentive, thanks to Emile. We were there as a couple celebrating our 51st Wedding Anniversary. The two of us shared an order of Oeufs Mayonnaise and an order of Croque Monsieur; both of us had Chicken Cordon Bleu as our main. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, lively but restrained; the crowd was mostly locals. It only seats about 35 persons, so reservations are a must. We were in Paris six days, and this was clearly our favorite dinner. Highly recommend!"

The 18 Best Bistros In Paris - Paris
You’d assume that this bistro near Place des Vosges, with tile floors, lace curtains, and an old-timey cash register, has been around since Charles de Gaulle was president, but it opened in late 2022. The menu delivers on the retro kitsch thanks to the usual bistro suspects that remind us why the saucier is the top dog of any French kitchen brigade. Beef tenderloin swims in creamy au poivresauce, and daube de boeuf, the Provençal answer to beef stew, is olive-studded gravy perfection.
The 11 Best Places to Eat in Paris Right Now
Rarely has a new bistro become as much of an instant hit as Bistrot des Tournelles when it opened in July 2022. Three years on, the hype for Édouard Vermynck’s homage to classic French dining continues. Behind half-height lacy curtains, you’ll find Parisian romance without a hint of cheesiness (unless you get the cheese course).
Inside the Levha Sisters’ Culinary World: Their Go-To Spots for Dining in Paris
Bistrot des Tournelles is a new place that serves pretty late. It’s very classic food – meat with French fries, very French – and very well made. They have a nice wine selection and the last time we visited, we drank a very good Fleurie from Dutraive.
6 Paris Bistros to Try Now
Some of them are pointedly traditional — the delightful Bistrot des Tournelles in the Marais, for example — while others offer a refined contemporary take on bistro cooking, notably the just opened Géosmine in the 11th Arrondissement.
The 13 Best Bistros in Paris
The Marais can be a bit of a crapshoot when it comes to great tables, but the young team behind the Bistrot des Tournelles have got a no-brainer with this small bistro hewing closely to time-honored tradition in the kitchen, albeit with an almost exclusively natural wine list. Chef Geoffroy Langella has become famous for his behemoth of a cordon bleu, whereby the staple of French cafeterias gets a serious makeover. A thinly pounded turkey breast is lined with a layer of Prince of Paris ham and stuffed with a generous handful of Comté cheese before being rolled in breadcrumbs and fried.

my favorite Paris Restaurants
While the Marais is a visitor favorite, not all the restaurants are up recommendable. A short walk from the Place des Vosges, this small dining room feels almost like home, with French standards like œufs mayo, steak-frites and a hearty daube de bœuf à la provençale, as well as simple, roasted free-range chicken with frites. Natural wines are the name of the game here and there’s a well-edited selection of them.

We can’t get enough of the chicken and classic purée at this traditional bistro. The dish is so good it should be used at cookery schools as a model. The chocolate mousse has a lot going for it too, all the more so as it’s served with a buttery gavotte biscuit.
