Reviews Summary

Le Bon Georges is celebrated for its classic Parisian bistro ambiance and exceptional French cuisine, particularly its renowned steak frites and extensive wine list. While many praise the attentive service and high-quality ingredients, some diners find the prices to be on the higher side and the menu format unconventional. Despite occasional concerns about value, the overall experience is often described as authentic and memorable, making it a sought-after dining destination.

"I came here upon a recommendation from a co worker and the Le Bon Georges didn’t disappoint. I had a soup, fish dish, dessert, and cappuccino.

All of the dishes were well prepared, had a thoughtful balance to them, contained fresh and flavorful ingredients, and had a good portion size. The menu changes often to match the ingredients they source.

Service was attentive and professional. The wait staff spoke perfect English and were very responsive (greeting, ordering, bussing, coursing). All the while the feel was casual and inviting.

This is a real gem. There is both indoor and outdoor dining. The decor is pleasant as well.

I would plan on spending around 100 Euros per person if doing multiple courses."

"Le Bon Georges truly impressed me. The food was absolutely delicious, served in generous portions felt both satisfying and refined. The setting is immaculate, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that elevates the experience as well as the high quality tableware.

What really stood out was the staff: cheerful, knowledgeable about both the food and wine, and fluent in English. And the massive wine list is the one cherry on top! I don't usually give 5 stars after a single visit, but here I genuinely can't find a reason not to."

"Dining here was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth, charm, and that effortless elegance only Paris can offer.
The food and service were exceptional. Each dish was a celebration of classic French technique with just the right modern touch. Flavours were rich yet refined. The wine list was beautifully curated, and the pairings were flawless. Thanks to our sommelier.
Service was impeccable, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food and wine.
An absolute must for anyone seeking authentic French dining at its finest. We were lucky enough to be seated on the gorgeous terrace and we will definitely back."

14 Classic Bistros in Paris Worth Visiting

Le Bon Georges is one of the best examples of a traditional Paris bistro done right, with a simple menu boasting authentic fare served up in a cozy atmosphere complete with well-worn wooden tables and a chalkboard menu. The secret of this restaurant’s success is its focus on high-quality ingredients, a cause near and dear to the heart of owner and former farm boy Benoït Duval-Arnould: origins of all animal proteins are clearly indicated, and care is taken to bring out the best in each and every ingredient from a beef rib to a simple radish.

The 18 Best Bistros In Paris - Paris

This maximalist bistro delivers big flavors, big ambiance, and big prices (shareable slabs of dry-aged beef cost the same as a month’s groceries). The walls of the three dining rooms are crammed with massive chalkboard menus and vintage tin signs advertising Pernod and Picon. It’s the Disney ideal of the bistro, so no surprise that tables are loaded seven nights a week with tourists who put up with occasionally aloof service and page through a wine list weighing more than a child.

Best Steak Frites Restaurants in Paris

Despite being relatively new, this steak frites joint near Galerie Lafayette department store and just below the hip part of Pigalle ticks all the aesthetic boxes of a bygone-era bistro atmosphere: menu on the mirror or chalkboard, wooden chairs, and wine bottles on display throughout. Beef is the main draw here, order it saignant (rare) or à point (medium rare), but other typical French meals like asparagus in the spring and truffle-topped fish in the fall are also available. Wine and cheese are also emphasized, so reserve room for a nutty Beaufort or a stanky bleu d’Auvergne between fromage courses.

Best Bistros in Paris in 2025

If you’re looking for classics done properly with a quality wine list to match, Le Bon Georges is a great option to consider during your stay in Paris. Located in the 9th district – close to the metro ‘Saint-Georges’ – it’s as traditional as they come, the main dining room is probably exactly what one would imagine a traditional bistro to be like. The menu here changes almost daily (hence why it’s difficult to find an example menu online) due to the fact they only use the best and freshest produce available in season.

45 rue Saint-Georges, 9th, tel: 01 48 78 40 30, (M: Saint-Georges) The classic bistro has been updated with well-sourced meats and vegetables and this now-popular neighborhood restaurant. Good steak tartare and steak frites are on the blackboard menu (note that they will only cook steaks rare and medium-rare, as they feel that the quality of their meat is too good to cook it any further), but there are good-quality fish dishes.
