I actually hadn’t realised Dior Des Lices was in St Tropez and had always assumed it was in Paris, so when we happened to pass it one day, I made Ben promise we would go and we made a reservation for a lunch there. Of course, Pepi came with us and we chose a lovely table in the grounds of the Dior Mansion with cold mist spraying down on us from the shade of the umbrella above. I hadn’t set my expectations for the food very high as ‘How good can a fashion labels food be?.

Dior des Lices is a lovely, quiet café in the elegant garden of the Saint Tropez Dior shop. It’s such a lovely setting, great if you want to cool down in the shade with a cold drink. Although I haven’t tried the food, the menu looks fresh and delicious – I really want to try the choux with Dior letters on them next time!

The big square is where St-Tropez millionaires play at being Provençal villagers, renting boules from the Café des Lices, see 4, for a game of pétanque under the plane trees and congregating at the très chic food and general market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings.
