Reviews Summary

Le Tire-Bouchon is lauded for its charming atmosphere, particularly its iconic teddy bear-adorned exterior, and its authentic, generous Alsatian cuisine. While many praise the flavorful dishes like pork cheeks and escargots, some reviewers note that the food quality can be average, and service can be slow during peak times or when busy with tourists.

"We went here for lunch today.
The food was delicious and the service was good. We tried the snails, the pork cheeks, the braised Ham, and Smoked salmon with potatoes. For dessert we tried the creme bruillet. Everything was super delicious."

Jasmin Fisher

"This restaurant is in close proximity to the Strasbourg Cathedral, and we managed to secure a table for six after being turned away by four other restaurants on Boxing Day.
They have three floors for seating, so you can always check for availability. We opted for the set menu for dinner, which was offered at €29.90 or €39.90. The portion is generous.

They serve Alsatian cuisine, and the overall quality is acceptable. One dish we did not enjoy was the salad that came with the set menu. However, other dishes like the fish and pork were satisfactory. The service was a bit slow, but the dessert was well done"

Y T

"Today we visited Strasbourg France. After our canal boat cruise, and walking tour, and upon recommendation from our tour guide, Connie, Dan, Kathy & I had a fabulous Lunch at Le Tire-Bouchon.
We had Chicken Cordon Bleu, Filet Mignon au Pork Tenderloin, Viennese Veal Escalope. Sides were, Fried Potatoes, Fries & Spaetzle. Everything was absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly! Our great servers were Nassar Hichan & Edward. They took great care of us. We're saving room for Dessert, to enjoy one of the great Gelato Shoppe's in Strasbourg......"

A Very Merry Guide to Christmas in Strasbourg, France

Le Tire Bouchon is the most famous building in Strasbourg, and it’s just a restaurant. However, it’s not the delicious Alsatian cuisine that wows most visitors, but the stunning exterior decorated with gigantic teddy bears, colorful ornaments, angels, and pine garlands!. While Le Tire-Bouchon isn’t the only building in Strasbourg to use teddy bears as decor—it seems every building on the street does it—this narrow and tall building with its beautiful half-timbered exterior has captured the hearts of visitors and photographers for years.

Palate’s Guide to Strasbourg – Palate Magazine

This is one of Strasbourg’s oldest restaurants serving food that is, in their own words, “façon grand-mère.” When you walk in you’re greeted with the scent of melting cheese and immediately asked if you have a reservation (booking is highly recommended – I observed many disappointed walk-ins being turned away whilst families tucked into vast platters of sausages, bacon, pork knuckles and sauerkraut). The pork cheeks in Pinot Noir with pomme purée are especially good here.

My Best Dining Experiences in Strasbourg, France

J and I had the shock of our lives when our food was served at Le Tire-Bouchon. We both ordered their specialty dish without realising that one order was enough for two. The Baeckeoffe mit Drei Sorten Fleisch (€20.90) which basically means a casserole with three types of meat (lamb, pork, beef) and potatoes was apparently cooked for 8 hours.

We had a great meal at le Tire Bouchon on our first night in Strasbourg in 2015. I'm surprised by the reviews in English calling this place touristy - we didn't hear any other English-speaking voices when we were there. My husband's ham knuckle with muenster cheese melted on top was amazing.
