"Authentic high quality food in relax ambience. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you value culinary art. All ingredients are high quality. All was perfect. I give 5 stars. The manager Mr. Shota was very kind and explained menu very well with some suggestions. I really enjoyed the dinner here. Thank you very much for your dedication to bring satisfaction to customers!
Panacotta was superb! 👌"

"As a real foodie and someone who has visited fine dining establishments, I can honestly tell you that this place was up there with the best! Their signature broths are sublime - meat or a fabulous mushroom for the plant based diet. Complimented with fermented veg and walnut topped salad. Simple local ingredients cooked by sophisticated chefs. Highly recommended.."

"Some of the dishes we ordered were quite nice. The soup tasted pretty good. The smell was similar to hot & sour soup. The chicken was yum. Wild Mushroom so salty. The red wine we had was lovely. Really like it."

Tbilisi: The World’s Most Bohemian City

Gachechiladze’s culinary empire also includes the hipster comfort-food joint Khasheria, just across from the city’s natural sulfur bathhouses, and the kitschy Mexican-Georgian crossover Taqueria Teko's Tacos, located in the Wine Factory Complex. Don’t miss the similarly-innovative Keto and Kote — named for characters from a Georgian opera, and located in a hidden 19th century palace that once belonged to the Bagrationi princes — which offers modern-fusion Georgian fare in a garden with panoramic views of the city center.

Yes, it's slap bang in the middle of Abanotubani and gets more than its fair share of tour groups, but Culinarium remains an excellent place to eat. Named after a famous hangover cure, khash, you don't need to be nursing a headache to dine here, though its six hangover cures, from chicken soup to bozbashi (beef broth with meatballs), are sorely tempting.

There’s a great restaurant called Culinarium Khasheria, where you can get this soup that is amazing for a hangover. I know some people might be put off by the tripe, but it usually always has beef shin in it, which the chefs cook overnight without salt or anything - just an onion, a piece of meat and loads of water. Often in the mornings people go to a khasheria, where the soup dish there is called khash, and it exists all over the Caucasus - and in Armenia they make a very similar thing.

Where to eat in Tbilisi, Georgia - Tbilisi restaurants - Georgian cuisine - Culinary travel

Culinarium Khasheria: helmed by Georgian TV chef, Tekuna Gachechiladze, this restaurant opposite the sulphur baths (be warned you will catch a whiff on approach) topped my Tbilisi dining wish list, so I booked a late lunch on Christmas Day, but in reality it disappointed. My impressions were not helped by a dish of under-cooked chicken, so pink, the waiter was horrified. However, the issue was well handled from a customer service perspective.

We did all the touristic sites and decided to have dinner at Culinarium Khasheria, where we had the best meal and wine during our trip. The food is very fresh and has a modern take on traditional Georgian foods with added complexity and international flavours but stays close to its roots. The chef, Tekuna, also runs Cafe Littera, which is more of fine dining, and unfortunately we couldn’t try it but definitely on the next trip!

If there’s one thing you can bank on in Georgia, it’s that no matter where you are—city or countryside, fancy restaurant or greasy spoon—cucumber tomato salad will be on the table. At its simplest, the dish is a cool, crunchy foil to whatever hearty mains are on offer, often just sliced tomatoes and cucumbers sprinkled with parsley.
