Klike's Khinkali

This is one of the last restaurants I tried but is right up there with Asi Khinkali, I think these two restaurants serve the absolute best khinkali in town. Klike’s is also an underground-style restaurant—you can almost miss it as you walk past—but I discovered it one day when I was out exploring, and upon hearing people chatting and laughing below I became curious and returned a few days later. The menu is quite short and dumplings can take quite a long time to arrive, but these are by no means a bad thing because every order of khinkali is made fresh upon order and seriously, these are some exquisite dumplings.

Located up the hill from Rustaveli Avenue, Klike’s Khinkali is a must-stop for it’s no frills but best-in-town khinkali. Throw the hand-written menu scrolled in Georgian aside and ask the waiter what you should order, and how many of these pillowy delights you should go for. Halve the number they recommend – Georgians can eat an impressive amount of these things that most mere mortals can’t – and don’t blow it by not ordering a Lagidze Water, or cold draft beer, on the side.

Klike’s Khinkali is another well known restaurant specializing in serving khinkali. You have to know about this rather hidden boho brick-lined basement on the Mtatsminda hillside, but once you’ve been here you’re likely to keep coming back, as for our money its khinkali are some of Tbilisi’s best. The thin dough and delicious fillings are super simple but utterly mouth-watering, and there’s good-quality beer and wine by the glass too.

Klike’s Khinkali: Down a flight of steps, this dumpling house near the Parliament building is the place for Georgia’s famous dumplings, which can only be washed down with a draft of cold beer. Since there are a few things to know about eating khinkali, this is also a great place to try these dreamy little pillows for yourself. There’s an art to understanding how many to order, which the staff is quick—and happy to—help with.

Klike’s is a little underground spot not far from Liberty Square, specializing in Georgia’s famous soup dumplings, all made fresh and available in a variety of flavours. We tried a combination of several flavours – pork and beef, mushrooms, cheese and potatoes. They were all good, but the best of the bunch was definitely mushrooms, with a delicious peppery broth.

As the name suggests, Klike’s Khinkali specialises in the Georgian classic khinkali, and they do a very good job of it!. There are several vegetarian filling options with mushroom, cheese, potato, or cheese and potato. Grab yourself a beer to go with it (the traditional khinkali accompaniment) or a Georgian tarragon-flavoured Laghidze water.

From outside the Klike’s Khinkali looks like an entrance to a nightclub with its red neon sign on top of the door. Like a lot of restaurants in Tbilisi, Klike’s Khinkali is in a cellar. You go down and enter a small but well decorated room with a bunch of tables and a counter.

I present to your attention – Klike’s Khinkali, a khinkali bar in the very center of Tbilisi. Yes, you heard it right, it’s a bar. The menu consists of 7 types of khinkali, churchkhelas, meat platters, and various snacks, along with an extensive drinks list.

Klike’s Khinkali is one of my favorites for meat and vegetarian Khinkali in Tbilisi. Their dumplings might not be hand-wrapped, but they are delicious!. If you like more broth inside Khinkali and a moderate portion of meat, then this one is perfect for you.

Alright, I have to be totally honest—I’ve never actually been here. But lots of people have told me it serves up some of the best Khinkali in Tbilisi, so I wasn’t gonna leave it off my list. Does that make me an honest man, or a dishonest one?
