In an impressive columned hall that once was the stables of the royal residence, this sprawling restaurant features three distinct indoor dining spaces—the main grill room with an open fire, a smaller area serving homemade pasta, and a casual bar with lounge-like vibe—plus a small seasonal terrace. An expansive breakfast menu includes a large selection of organic egg dishes and pancakes.

Other major mainstays for fine dining include Little London grill for your good German steaks and Brenner Grill, a vast open grill that feels ripped from the ‘90s (positive!) for its vast dining room and see-and-be-seen professional air.

Brenner is a fantastic Italian/German mix up, all centered around its namesake “ brenner” which means grill in German. It’s a huge place, set in the 300 year old former royal stables, with giant stone columns and arches over the entire place. It’s broken out into three places, a big beautiful bar, full with people nipping in from the cold weather, a grill room, centered around the big grill and a calmer dining room that focuses on fresh-made pastas and Italian dishes mixed with German flair.

This colonnaded hall was formerly the stables of Munich's royal house, hosting anything from hay bales to high-end cuisine. Brenner has a beautiful position off Maximilanstraße and an amazing vaulted and pillared interior, which is now crammed with pretty, young things. It's a big, lively brasserie-style venue, with interior space for 450 people and a picturesque terrace looking toward the Bavarian state opera.

The restaurant specialises in Italian cuisine and is well-loved for its warm atmosphere, polite staff, and excellent meals. Some common favourites on the menu include grilled meat and fish dishes, exquisite salads, homemade bread, pasta and yummy desserts.

And here I get to the point: The Sunday brunch at the Brenner has childcare and a small corner where you can let your little ones romp about. An absolute plus point, because with a child brunch is usually hardly possible and almost impossible. Make a reservation & if you're early, ask for a table close to the children's corner.

One of the Munich hot-spots, the Brenner Grill is serious about grilling. Right in the middle of the restaurant you will see several open fires, one group for broiling, the other gas flames for preparing pasta. You can watch every detail of your dish being prepared Food is simple but delicious.

We prefer to go to Café Clara, to brunch at Brenner on Sundays or to Café Reitschule. If the children are particularly active in the morning Turncafé is a good choice. While parents sip a delicious coffee, the children can test the pedagogically designed gymnastic equipment.

Freshly made pasta, perfectly grilled meat and fish and super delicious salad and veggie dishes. Brenner‘s grill really is a location where everyone finds something delicious. It also is located in the center, in a courtyard in the Maximilianstraße.

Brenner Opengrill is a contemporary restaurant serving Italian cuisine. The dining room is located in a beautiful pillared chamber with a big open grill in the middle of it. The restaurant is open all day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I asked this same question a few years ago and was recommended Brenner for great Italian food. We went there for our anniversary and really enjoyed it. It isn't too far from where you're staying.

Brenner Grill has been the place to be seen since it opened a long time ago in late 2003. Don’t be surprised to spot prominent international socialites on nearby tables.
