This restaurant is lauded for its hearty, delicious Polish-German cuisine, generous portions, and friendly service, creating a cozy, medieval atmosphere that appeals to locals and visitors alike. While many praise the schnitzel and pierogi, a few reviews mention that some dishes can be overly salty or a bit tough. The beer garden is a highlight in warmer months, offering scenic river views, though smoking is permitted outdoors.

"A fantastic place to have a hearty meal and a few drinks. The schnitzel is a must have and there was a special menu item with goose breast that was absolutely delicious! Would definitely go again when we're in Nürnberg"

Henk Bezuidenhout

"A very quaint restaurant with excellent, friendly service. We had the pork Schnitzel which was just ok. It was a bit tough. It seemed like a nice place for the locals to go. We liked it because it was away from the tourist areas. Despite the average rating of the food, I would recommend it for the atmosphere and great service"

Jessie Mehl

"Great outdoors serving on the roof. Very friendly staff, I had the Schnitzel with fries which was good, and a few beers. Unfortunately, the pork shoulder is only served on saturdays.

It’s a good idea to make a reservation."

Nuremberg Pub Guide

Another favourite of locals and tourists alike, Kopernikus is best enjoyed in the summer with its quiet roof-top garden overlooking the city’s walls. The place has a very cosy and medieval look, which for me is a definite win. For the winter, I would recommend this place for a formal or fancy drinks/dinner session.

Best things to do in Nuremberg

The Kopernikus, a 10-minute walk from Hauptmarkt, is one of the most popular. For a special lunch or dinner, try the Goldener Pudel where you have the chance to taste exquisite grilled meats; The Ficher at Schottengasse 1, offers local dishes, but with a slightly more sophisticated flair.
