"Located in the lovely village of koutaloufari, this hidden gem is definitely worth a visit. We didn't eat, only had cocktails. The drinks were lovely with plenty to choose from. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There is a roof top terrace which was nice."

The stand out thing above anything else is the service - while relaxed and definitely not stuffy, it's also highly professional and courteous. What I really picked up on was when our waiter (who sounded just like Nico Rosberg! - it's uncanny) called our son by his name when bringing his drink, despite not asking for his name and just picking up on it from overhearing our table conversation. Just really nice and friendly interactions.
Food was good, very traditional, so the Kleftiko for example might not look like a modern version, but it was very tasty. Really nice sauce in the meatballs too.
I'd highly recommend. It might not be the absolute best food we've had (though still very good), but often it's the experience that makes it."

Particularly popular is The Alchemist, run by two very friendly brothers, who serve up wonderful home cooking. We also liked Oniro’s, where the waiter was kind enough to suggest that we take home what we couldn’t eat – the portions are huge and all sorts of complimentary dishes appear on the table, both before and after the meal. They really push the boat out at Galini’s, with the waitresses in Grecian dress and a lot of ceremony involved in the service – good food but not so much fun or as relaxed as some of the other restaurants.

The Alchemist: what we loved about this place is for starters the bar which is clearly the place to hang out for return visitors that the owner knows and easily entertains. It provides a pleasant atmosphere and friendly vibe. The Cretan cuisine is lovely and the cherry on top really the home made dessert.
