Reviews Summary
Niko's Taverna offers a vibrant atmosphere and a prime location in Mykonos, with many guests enjoying the fresh seafood and traditional Greek dishes. However, some diners report a less than welcoming experience with service and find the food to be underwhelming or overpriced for the quality. It's recommended to be aware of potential extra charges.
"This seafood restaurant is located right in Little Venice, accessible only by foot. It's a local favorite, serving up delicious seafood in a European style, like whole grilled or fried fish, shrimp, and octopus. They also have pasta dishes with tomato or cream sauces.
Eating here is so much fun because of the lively atmosphere with people walking by – it makes the meal even more enjoyable! Perfect for anyone looking for tasty seafood that's quick and doesn't take too long."

"Unpopular opinion maybe but I was underwhelmed. I had it in my head I would go to Nice n Easy on the coast since it had better reviews. A local artist swore by Niko’s so we decided to try it.
Located close to the water shuttle in Little Venice it was centrally located around most of the shopping areas. We were met by mostly grunts and scowls to sit down. As with most European restaurants there is no urgency and you must wave down a waiter. Which is fine, but there were no pleasantries or cultural exchanges.
The seating area is all outside on a slanted road with very small tables. It is in a busy walking path among the shops so while busy it wasn’t completely distracting. The noise level was moderate but could easily hold a conversation. The bathrooms were inside next to the kitchen and going could see minimal indoor seating.
The sourdough was really good along with the olive oil which I have to believe was fresh. We REALLY wanted grilled octopus so we ordered that and a pasta of grilled octopus, along with a fried cheese. The grilled octopus was great and seasoned well. The pasta was eggshell and less impressive. The red sauce was watery and bland mostly but a great deal of octopus chunks in every bite.
At the End of the Day - Nikos was bland and underwhelming and unwelcoming to tourists. It’s fine I’ll only go there once and I got my seafood I wanted. Skip this place despite the locals and try Nice N Easy and tell me if your experience was better than mine!"

"Food is very touristic. Flavors are weird. The artichoke salad had curry and mayo!! I was expecting Mediterranean olive oil… mushroom has Gorgonzola not Roquefort at all. The saganaki cheese has batter !!!
Wine totally watered down. Ice cream is supermarket ice cream and had ice in it.
However the waiters were very nice. Nice seating area. Nice vibe."

And necessarily so, as it’s always absolutely packed, with couples, groups of friends, and families, all having the time of their lives as the long-standing waiting staff move balletically around them. Inside, bottles of wine grace shelves alongside model boats as decoration, but most people want to be outdoors, sitting on the small, white-painted wooden chairs at tables decked out in red and white checked tablecloths.

The key to serving up excellent seafood is to make sure that it's fresh. Sure, a gourmet chef can make anything taste exquisite, but if the fish isn't fresh, the taste won't just be the same. It'll probably just be fine, but not one to make a fuss over.
