Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, take your pick from several waterfront seafood restaurants: go left for the famous Sunset Ammoudi by Paraskevas or more homely Dimitris Ammoudi Taverna, or right to Ammoudi Fish Tavern. In our opinion, those on the left have the much nicer setting, but come at a higher price point (especially if opting for fish by weight).

Ammoudi Bay is underneath the picturesque village of Oia and you can get there by walking down the 214 steps from Oia’s castle or taking a car/scooter to the main road that connects Ammoudi with the rest of the island. This is an amazing tavern with predominantly fresh seafood and fish. It is fished daily and is among the top seafood restaurants in Santorini.

There’s a very good reason Ammoudi Fish Tavern is regularly packed out. The seafood here is mouth-watering and well worth the trek down to Ammoudi Bay from the center of Oia. Get a prized seafront table and start with the arugula and spinach salad, combining dried fig, caramelized hazelnuts, soft and creamy Skotiri cheese, and a herb dressing.

This restaurant came highly recommended, but it’s definitely a special occasion place. It’s situated right on Amoudi Bay, where the tour boats and local boats alike dock. You’ll recognize it by the octopus hanging up next to the restaurant.
