What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Full tou Meze is praised for its authentic Greek cuisine, particularly its extensive meze selection and delicious seafood like grilled octopus and calamari. Diners appreciate the generous portions and reasonable prices, often rounded off with complimentary ice cream. However, some reviews note occasional service delays during busy periods and a few dishes that could be improved.
"The food is absolutely delicious, fresh and well presented. We had saganaki with mussels and mixed barbecue meet. Also, Greek salad was divine. The restaurant was full and all the staff was busy. House wine is on the menu, we chose Rose and we enjoyed it very much. The only thing that kind of wasn't excellent is we waited a bit too long to pay. But, it didn't matter as it rained a lot outside 😎. At the end, we got complimentary vanilla ice cream which was great. I recommend this place with my whole heart!!!"

"I visited this restaurant, Full tou Meze, for dinner, and despite the crowd, the service was prompt. Our dishes were served shortly after ordering. The portions were generous and delicious. The salad and grilled octopus are highly recommended—they were exceptional. As a delightful gesture, the restaurant treated us to complimentary ice cream at the end of our meal. This restaurant is definitely a great option for dinner."

"The restaurant was busy and we waited a few minutes to be seated. The waiting staff seem to have different roles as some were unwilling to take orders or bring the bill.
The fried zucchini sticks were crispy and not at all greasy. The risotto was creamy & al dente and would have been perfect but the addition of cheese made it much too savoury. The warm beetroot salad was quite plain but some lemon juice & salt made it all better.
We were stuffed and declined the complementary dessert."

Restaurants in Thessaloniki
Ordering your meal at this establishment in the heart of the bustling Ladadika district is quite an experience. The waiters bring their own eccentric individuality to this often mundane ritual, and the menu is printed on a "newspaper" with photos from old Greek films and articles heralding the dishes you're about to munch on. The taverna itself is done up as a deli (as a matter of fact you can buy Greek charcuterie and cheeses), which gives a rough idea of the fare served.
A Short Visit to Thessaloniki
But our eyes were attracted to a place right across the square that was decorated like a traditional old grocery store called Foul tou Meze with food much better than its name implied. The restaurant had a long list of smoked, salted and pickled mezes which includes filet sardines from Spain, smoked grilled skoumbri(mackerel) which was the best fish meze I have ever had, smoked and pickled herring, pickled lakerda (bonito-tuna), pickled anchovies, at least a dozen different cheeses from all over Greece, twenty different salads ranging from the two different flavors of tarama salata (3 if you include the rare tarama from Messolonghi), fava, the spicy cabbage and carrot politiki salad which we found at most restaurants, meatballs made from beef as well as octopus, zucchini, chickpeas, octopus grilled or in wine, kalamari stuffed and baked, or fried or grilled and various meat, pasta and vegetable dishes as well as all the typical dishes from Thessaloniki and northern Greece. They had twenty varieties of ouzo, and equal number of tsipuro and twenty or thirty different bottled wine and an excellent white xima (barrel supposedly but actually it comes in a box) which was their house wine from the island of Limnos.
