The food is perfectly-prepared fine European cuisine, the wine might make you weep, and yet the experience is not pretentious.

There is an attached craft microbrewery as well — Cerveceria 14 — where you can order drinks to go with your meal (separate tickets).

The food is tasty and the menu has a nice variation. The menu is still French-style food, like beef bourguignon or quiches, but added a lot of other options, like pizza, making it now a more family-friendly place.

This evening’s dinner was at Hector’s Bistro, which is an Antiguan institution. Hector’s has been operational for years and it has quite the fan base. Hector’s food and vibe was certainly catered to ex-pats in the area, but it is a nice, large space with open air seating and often live music.

Ask anyone the best brunch restaurant in Antigua and they will probably tell you it’s Hector’s Bistro. Not only are the food and drinks of high quality, but the lively courtyard restaurant is busy day to night. I didn’t eat here for dinner but I heard great things.

If you’re looking for an upscale restaurant in Antigua Guatemala for dinner, I would consider making a reservation at Hector’s Bistro. This French-style steakhouse is one of best in Antigua. It is on the pricier end for the town, but definitely a tourist favorite.

According to Lonely Planet, it is a few-table restaurant in Antigua that you’ll want to visit. It may be a little place, but this candlelit salon goes big with its menu. Aside from that, you will see the kitchen behind the bar where Hector is working non-stop.

This small restaurant opposite La Merced Cathedral is renowned for its French specialities like beef bourguignon and grilled duck breast, and was recommended by my hostel for a nice evening meal.

It’s a lovely bistro with a cozy ambiance, known for its delicious food and excellent service. I’ve had here one of the best beef steaks ever!. Specialties: Steaks, pasta, seafood.
