Makhan Fish and Chicken Corner is praised for its authentic Punjabi flavors and signature dishes like Amritsari Fish and Butter Chicken, reflecting its long-standing legacy. However, some diners find the experience to be overhyped, citing long waiting times, inconsistent food quality, and rushed service as drawbacks. "Makhan Fish and Chicken Corner, a culinary gem since 1962, stands tall as a testament to Amritsar's rich food culture. Nestled conveniently near Madaan Hospital, this iconic eatery is a must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic Punjabi flavors.
Their signature Amritsari Fish is a delightful treat, cooked to perfection with a crispy exterior and a burst of spices. The Butter Chicken and Tandoori Chicken are crowd favorites, paired wonderfully with freshly baked naans. The extensive menu caters to both fish and chicken lovers, ensuring a fulfilling experience for everyone.
The restaurant boasts a clean and welcoming ambiance with a hint of old-world charm. The service is prompt, and the staff is polite and knowledgeable about the dishes. The parking facility nearby is an added advantage for those driving in.
Whether you're a local or a traveler exploring the city, Makhan Fish and Chicken Corner offers a taste of history and tradition in every bite. Highly recommended for foodies looking to indulge in classic Amritsari cuisine."

"Tonight we visited Makhan Fish for dinner. We were five of us & started with fish sangara fried & seekh kabab. Unfortunately it took over 25 minutes for these appetizers to arrive & the fish tasted really bad. The seekh kabab was flavorful with plenty of cashew pieces but it was served cold. I’ve had much better fried fish at well-known local shops in Sector 8, Chandigarh.
They claim to have been in business since 1962 but the quality of the food didn’t reflect that experience. For our main course we ordered paneer butter masala & rara chicken (half boneless). The paneer butter masala was the worst I’ve ever had. We picked this restaurant based on online recommendations but it turned out to be a really poor choice.
It took nearly 30 minutes to serve the main course which means we spent almost 40 to 50 minutes waiting for our food overall. The staff was not very friendly either we had to keep waving just to get someone’s attention & it felt like no one noticed us. Most of the customers were tourists & it seemed like they came here after seeing paid promotional articles on Google.
We also ordered mirchi parantha twice. The first time it was tasty & fully cooked but the second time it came out half-cooked. Even after asking the server to replace it the replacement was also half-cooked. When we mentioned our concerns to the cashier (or owner) he casually replied, “nai khana toh acha hai…” which only added to our disappointment."

"Was highly recommended again by Ambarsariya friends.. I have been to Beera chicken earlier so visited this time makhan. They have aa family restaurant which seems to have avery good ambience and also their service was prompt. We ordered chicken champ, fish fry, keema Naan for starters. Except for the champ which is like a chicken cutlet , rest was ok or average in taste. We ordered chicken Rara with tandoori roti.. good amount of chicken yet taste which is ok. Not sure if it was worth the hype. Ok to visit once in a while"

For Amritsari fish -- here, fabulous batter-fried sole from the Beas River, flavored with lovage (a thymelike spice) -- you must go to Makhan Fish House (Lawrence Rd.), another famous dhaba, where things are eternally simple and cheap. Another stalwart serving delectable fish and chicken is Bharawan da Dhaba (tel. 0183/253-2575), which also does simple, delicious paratha, and dal is dished; wash your meal down with one of their utterly decadent lassis.
