Reviews Summary

Rayar's Mess is celebrated for its authentic, traditional South Indian breakfast, with many praising the melt-in-the-mouth idlis and crispy dosas. However, some diners have expressed disappointment with the taste and found the experience not living up to the hype, citing issues with hygiene and long wait times. The unique trust-based billing and warm hospitality are often highlighted as positives, despite the humble ambiance and limited seating.

"“Rayar Mess is a hidden gem for authentic South Indian breakfast lovers. Known for its humble ambiance and traditional flavors, this place offers a nostalgic culinary experience. Their melt-in-the-mouth idlis, crispy dosas, and flavorful chutneys are the stars of the menu. The sambar, with its rich, homely taste, complements the dishes perfectly. While the seating is basic and limited, the warmth of the food and quick service more than make up for it. A must-visit spot for those seeking an old-school dining experience in Chennai.”
Highly recommended!!!"

"If you want to have authentic Chennai food this is the place for you. It is located deep inside Chennai Street's, We went there in the afternoon and the place was quite free as it opened just a few minutes ago. We had all types of dosai and bonda and to our luck we had gulab jamun multiple times...and a good strong coffee.

Try this if you're in town and want a feel of the city vibes."

"This restaurant boasts a charming traditional ambiance and offers a limited menu, but the food is quite delicious.. 😋🤤 For those who enjoy traditional South Indian dishes like Idli, Dosa, and Vada, I encourage you to try them. If not, it might be best to avoid them.. 👍🏻

In the morning, they offer only three items Idli, Pongal, and Vada, with Ketti Chutney and Podi available separately for an additional charge, But seriously, don’t miss out on the amazing taste of ketti chutney! You’ve got to try mixing it with sambar and Pongal for that divine Rayar's mess experience..🫠🤗

One of the best things is they serve it super hot, which makes it taste even better..!🔥 So, if you're getting a parcel or ordering online, you won't get the real restaurant taste. You should definitely try dining in..👌🏻 Don’t leave without trying the filter coffee, it’s like a hug for your taste buds from Mylapore!😘☕

Additionally, the service provided by the staff at the hotel is consistently excellent, they are usually polite and always willing to help.. 🙏🏻😊

It's a tiny place where only 12 people can eat at once, and it has this old-school vibe with tables and chairs, sure, it’s not a five-star setup like those big veg joints, but the flavor is a hundred times more awesome!!! 😊

And the prices..? It's just the cherry on top, totally reasonable for a budget-friendly place!😎
They are accepting UPI payment and cash..

It's a really tiny street, so finding parking on the main roads is tough and Usually, there are about 10 to 20 people hanging out outside, and you’ll probably wait around 20 to 30 minutes to get seated.. 😕
