Reviews Summary

Hamro Bhansa Ghar is praised for its authentic Nepali and Tibetan cuisine, with the Mutton Thali and Chilly Pork being standout dishes. While many enjoy the delicious, home-style flavors and warm hospitality, some reviewers note that the restaurant can feel cramped and understaffed, with occasional issues regarding food taste and service speed.

"A Hidden Gem for Authentic Nepali Cuisine

Nestled in the heart of Gandhi Marg, Gangtok, Hamro Bhansa Ghar is a delightful spot for anyone craving authentic Nepali and Tibetan cuisine. This small, family-run eatery on the first floor may not boast a lavish setup, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for with its warm hospitality and incredible flavors.

The restaurant has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with a small bar adding to its charm. It's run by a Nepali family, and you can truly feel their passion for traditional cooking in every dish they serve. They are particularly famous for their Nepali and Tibetan Thali, which offers a complete and flavorful experience of the region’s culinary heritage.

We ordered:
✔ Nepali-style Chilly Pork – Perfectly spiced, tender, and bursting with flavors. The balance of heat and savoriness made it an instant favorite.
✔ Chilly Chicken – A delicious take on a classic, with juicy pieces of chicken coated in bold Nepali-style spices.
✔ Nepalese Mutton Thali – A must-try! The mutton was cooked to perfection, rich in flavor, and complemented by an array of traditional side dishes, including dal, rice, achar (pickle), and more.
✔ Chicken Thali – Equally satisfying, offering a wholesome, home-cooked feel with well-seasoned chicken and classic accompaniments.

Everything we tried was super authentic, prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional techniques, and left us fully satisfied. If you're in Gangtok and want to experience the true essence of Nepali cuisine, Hamro Bhansa Ghar is the place to go. Highly recommended!"

"An uncomplicated, simple restaurant to take a pause off the hi-fi habits. Tibetan dishes and Nepali thali (Thakali thali) are the USP here. The thali is served in the traditional brass utensils. Taste: trying for the first time is quite good. It's filling. Very simply prepared. Not at all dumped with spices. The chicken though I found little undercooked. But manageable. Ambience: petite yet functional and clean. Service: not bad not good type. Overall it's a 'can be visited' if not 'must be' to at least try the Nepali food. A satisfactory memory to add up."

"The restaurant offers an authentic taste of Sikkimese and Nepali cuisine, with flavors that are both rich and comforting. Every dish—from momos, veg thukpa, noodles is freshly prepared and full of traditional flavor.

The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, with attentive and friendly staff who made the experience even better. You can feel the warmth of local hospitality as soon as you walk in."
