What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Arsalan is celebrated for its legendary biryani and authentic Mughlai dishes, often described as a must-visit for Kolkata's culinary scene. While many praise the rich flavors and tender meats, some reviews mention inconsistencies in service and occasionally higher prices compared to other local eateries. Be prepared for potential waits during peak times, but the flavorful food is widely considered worth the experience.
"Arsalan Restaurant – A Second Name for Biryani in Kolkata
In Kolkata, when you talk about biryani, one name echoes across every food lover’s heart—Arsalan. Over the years, this iconic restaurant has become synonymous with authentic Mughlai cuisine, serving dishes that blend heritage, tradition, and irresistible flavors.
The crown jewel here is undoubtedly the Kolkata-style biryani—fluffy long-grain rice, tender meat, and that signature golden potato, slow-cooked with aromatic spices that leave a lingering memory with every bite. But Arsalan is much more than biryani. Their kebabs, chaap, and rich gravies bring alive the royal Mughlai legacy on your plate.
The newly opened Park Circus wing elevates the dining experience even further. With its modern interiors, spacious layout, and warm lighting, it offers both comfort and elegance. The ambiance perfectly complements the food—rich, inviting, and memorable.
What sets Arsalan apart is not just the taste but also the presentation and consistency. Every dish arrives beautifully plated, retaining its authentic charm while appealing to modern diners. Service is prompt, and the staff carry forward the restaurant’s legacy of hospitality with genuine warmth.
Whether you are a local craving comfort food or a traveler wanting to taste Kolkata’s culinary pride, Arsalan remains a must-visit destination. For many, it’s not just a restaurant—it’s an emotion, a ritual, and an everlasting part of the city’s food culture."

"Went for dinner.
Egg biryani 2 eggs, mutton biryani, mutton kassa.
The surprising fact is that they serve only biryani, no raita or anything with it.
You need to order every other thing as extra.
When you know taste of biryani from Lucknow and Hyderabad, this looks like little less on spices however taste is good.
Quantity is less as compared to Hyderabad and Lucknow.
Mutton pieces were served as per demand. Full marks there.
Was surprised to see perfectly cooked and most tasty part of dish that is potato!
Little bit costly but worth the experience.
The songs played were good but sound needs to be pleasant not loud."

"Arsalan Park Circus is one of the most popular spots in Kolkata for biryani and kebabs. The food is consistently delicious — their mutton biryani and kebabs are crowd favorites, with generous portions and rich flavors. We tried -
1. Chicken Reshmi kebab
2. Mutton Biriyani
3. Mutton Stew
4. Firni
The prices here are on the higher side compared to nearby places like Royal India, Zam Zam, or Zeeshan, where you can get similar Mughlai dishes for much less. The restaurant is also almost always crowded, so be prepared for a wait during peak hours in the weekends. Ambience is simple and functional, and service is decent but not exceptional.
Overall, you’re paying a premium for the Arsalan name and quality, but if you don’t mind the price, it’s a solid choice for Mughlai food."
