Reviews Summary

Mitra Cafe is a beloved century-old Kolkata institution celebrated for its iconic Bengali snacks like fish fry and mutton kabiraji, evoking nostalgia for many. While the food quality is often praised for its authentic flavors, some patrons find certain dishes to be overpriced and the ambiance to be overly hyped or a bit cramped. Service can be inconsistent, with some reviewers reporting rude staff, though others commend attentive service.

"Mitra Cafe is an absolute legend when it comes to Kolkata food vibes! The place may be small and simple, but the taste is unmatched. Their fish fry, mutton kabiraji, and chicken cutlet are just iconic — crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful inside. Pure nostalgia on a plate!
They make everything perfect like a mother's touch

It’s usually crowded, but that just shows how loved it is.

If you're in North Kolkata and haven’t eaten here yet, you’re seriously missing out. A must-visit for every foodie, especially if you want a true taste of old-school Bengali snacks nd foods."

MONIRIMA DEY

"Decent quality of food according to its price range. We ordered Chicken Chowmin and Fish Batter Fry, both were tasty. Overall in terms of food it's a thumbs up 👍🏻
However, it is worth noting that some items on the menu may seem somewhat overpriced.

The staffs here seemed well trained and maintained a professional level.

In terms of decoration and atmosphere, it's very good. It's a well decorated thematic place. Overall it's also a double thumbs up from me 👍🏻👍🏻

Overall I'm happy to give them 4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐"

"It was our second time visit but the service was not good. We understand it was crowded and people were waiting outside but the person who asked us to leave was very rude. Food was OK OK. Do not try their mutton egg devil. It was sweet."
