Reviews Summary

Dakshinayan is celebrated for its authentic and delicious South Indian cuisine, with particular praise for its dosas, idlis, and exceptional filter coffee. The chutneys and sambar are also frequently highlighted as standouts. While the food garners high marks, some diners have noted that the restaurant can be very loud and noisy, and service can occasionally be slow or inconsistent, especially during peak hours.

"It's an authentic South Indian restaurant.
The types of chutneys they have. Damn! It was top notch.
Rating the food we had -
1. Tatte Idli
Served in a banana leaf with molgapodi masala and a lot of butter.
5/5
2. Filter coffee
I have always been a black coffee person. Never thought something would give cut throat competition to international blends. Filter coffee from India has proved me wrong. It was soo good.
10/5
3. Mysore Masala Dosa
It's a dicey review. As a masala dosa it deserves 10/10. But as Mysore masala dosa, Mumbai has better. So 3.5/5 for Dosa.
4. Bisbelle Bhaat
It's good. Lots of veggies and healthy stuff with butter/ghee definitely. Quite homely subtle taste. 4/5
5. Chutney and Sambhar
Yes! It deserves a different rating. They serve two different chutneys. One basic coconut chutney and Sambhar. That's where they have won our hearts. It's awesome.

Price:
For a South Indian it might feel pricey. But considering the locality and quality, it gives justice.

Atmosphere:
It was nice and subtle, even though it's a busy restaurant while waiting even on weekdays early in the morning. There's no chaos. Vibe is good.

Service :
Staff has been really good at guiding what to order. Prompt service. Helpful staff.

I forgot to mention the mukhwas.
It's nice. We literally sat down to consume it after food."

"One of the best South Indian restaurants in the city.
The best part of Dakshinayan is the simplicity and focus on quick service and great-tasting food. We ordered the spicy pepper masala dosa, the besibelle huliana (basically a really tasty khichdi type dish), the rawa sheera and trust me, they all came within 15 minutes steaming hot.
Simple, no-nonsense service, piping hot food which tastes amazing, and quick checkout. There is parking available at the site, but no valet. The pricing is extremely competitive, especially for a restaurant occupying such prime real estate. I shall definitely go back to Dakshinayan again."

Alessandro Pinto

"Its a must try place for south indian food lovers. We ordered mix uthhapam, triangle masala dosa, onion tomato idli, and filter coffee. Their chutneys are a notable highlight. Plus it's right by the Iscon Temple in Juhu. The decor is subtle but comforting with all the thanjavore paintings. Overall it's a great place."
