From dashashwamedh ghat this is around 3 and half KM...you can easily get shared public transport to reach this restaurant. The ambience of this restaurant is very earthy,,, you get a feeling of a village home...especially old mud houses of Uttar Pradesh.
For sitting you have two options, a table with chairs and patla sitting. The food is served mainly in plates made from sal tree leaves, Mitti bhruka and Diya vati but you can ask for regular plates. litti chokha and dal bhaat are served with two options, unlimited and limited but the limited option is filling for a single person.
If you are visiting Banaras or Varanasi, you must visit this place. I visited this restaurant for dinner, but I suggest visiting it at lunch time."

"This was my first time in this Restaurant. I just entered and after some walking a person was standing for welcome and he guided me towards upstairs First floor. You have to remove your shoes(there was cabin for safeguard your shoes) before entering dining area, as traditional culture that we are sitting on ground without slippers.
The inside ambience was good. It was fully air condition. You have many option to sit, you can sit on ground or on chairs, it's up to you. I sat on chair. Here they were provided Khaat you can rest on them.
Restaurant was clean and maintain hygiene. They cook the food by traditional methods. Like they grinding wheat and making Wheat Flour by rotating Hand Made Chakki. They roasting potato for Chokha in cow dung cake (Upale/Gohari). They prepare chatni on Sil Batta and Baat surved in dipped Ghee.
I requested for the menu. There are only 4 options are available in the menu. All are approx same in dishes and equal in charge i.e ₹375. You have to order any combo option from given 4 menu. All are compulsory, you can not remove any other meal. And for adding extra you have to pay more.
The food was good, as I belong to the same native region so I didn't find any extra/different taste. But Paneer Bati was new for me, Chokha was good, Fried Dal and Chawal was also good, Chhachh (Butter Milk) is like Amul masala butter milk. The Kheer was impressed me, but they didn't give me extra. I didn't like the Paneer Pakoda and Moong Pakoda.
Recommendations:
If you want to take one time experience then go. If you have good eating capacity then you can go for Combo Option. But only for eating Bati Chokha Paying ₹400 is not worthy. If you are alone and want to have only Bati Chokha then go to their grounded restaurant. There are Single options available like you can eat 2 Bati and Chokha. After you can order some rice, dal and other things. You can order it accordingly your eating capacity. You have option to taste different varieties. And of course it will be cheaper, unfortunately I known these things after spending ₹400. I asked waiter to I can't eat that much, if you have single eating options are available then please tell, she told Sir you have to order combo and pay for full there are no such options available. I can't finish my full plate so I asked them to Please pack Kheer and Paneer Pakode."
