Reviews Summary
Shandiz Restaurant is widely celebrated for its exceptional Shishlik Kebab and other traditional Persian grilled meats, often praised for generous portions and authentic flavors. While the food garners high praise, diners should be aware that the restaurant can be quite noisy and crowded due to its popularity, and parking in the area can be challenging.
"The greatest Shishlik Kebab you can eat in the city with no doubt. Everybody goes to this place only for Shishlik. Other kebabs are also very tasty.
It's an expensive restaurant but considering the size of kebabs and rice, it's really worthy.
The only thing I've never liked about this place is that it's always very crowded and it's too noisy inside the restaurant.
It's also very difficult to find a parking spot there.
All in all, it's the best place to have a good meal and a good experience."

"Shandiz is a very well-known brand in the Iranian food industry, and this is one of their most luxurious branches. Located in one of the upscale neighbourhoods of Northern Tehran, the restaurant has two floors and is always packed. Sometimes, you may need to wait for tables to be vacated.
The menu is limited to a handful of items, but rest assured that the quality is the highest. Upon sitting at the table, a freshly baked bread is served. Unfortunately, in their starters, there is no soup, and the drinks are only limited to canned ones. In spite of this, the food will satisfy you immensely and the portions are very big. The lamb shank is strongly recommended. The staff are very well-trained to take care of the clients."

"Arrived here 8 minutes before they close down for lunch.
I didn't pay them a visit for a long time and went there thinking they would be in their old place, but they have moved to the building on the opposite side of the street. And fun fact, their parking entrance is located at the alley next to where their entrance is located, well at least they offer parking now, because back then this was not an option.
Unfortunately this place is located in one of the most crowded Streets in tehran, just going through their street took around 50 minutes for us (that's why we arrived so late) finding their parking entrance was relatively easy and we went up to try our chances, they resisted a bit in the beginning but after talking with people inside, thet let us go in. It happened all really too fast as they wanted to close the kitchen and it was ok with us, we ordered one Shishlik (Iranian version of the famous Shashlik) made with lamb meat, amrinated and skewered, grilled on charcoal. This place is one of the few places in tehran which seems to use genuine meat from the Original place or Shandiz , a city located in an eastern states of iran which is famous for its meat and their restaurant (it's not for nothing, it's seriously amazing and i had some of my best kebabs there)
This place is expensive, located in an expensive area it is also expected from them, but what you don't expect is the lack of hospitality and how they serve the food, despite its prices, what they offer is exactly like the cheapest restaurants on the side of some random road, they have plastic sheets on all their tables to clean the table as fast as they can, they have no starters, no dessert and nor much of a design in the main hall.
Don't get me wrong they are not rude or cheap, it's just how their restaurant is built, they want to induce the same experience we would've gotten back in the original City.
As mentioned the prices are high, but from what i remember the portions were big, but this time was not what I remembered.
Specially their confit Lamb meat was not as big as before and they definitely had bigger portions back then.
Their confit lamb was nothing special this time, it wasn't even salted and it was too oily, it wasn't slowly cooked enough so it wasn't soft enough.
Their Shishlik was good, not exactly what you will get in the city of Shandiz but the closest to it in Tehran. It was a bit on the dryer side but still enjoyable, nicely marinated with onions and seasoned well. It didn't have any onions stuck to it while cooking therefore no bitter taste of burnt onions, had a really nice taste, soft and had a pleasant taste of meat.
They also offered some sides, some yogurt and a traditional olive made in northern style.
If you visit this place, don't expect fine dining even though their prices indicate one, but you can expect some delicious Shishlik l if you are looking for one."
