Prior to the pandemic, boxing up elements of a restaurant experience for certain restaurateurs was already on a gentle simmer and has been expedited due to Covid-19. Such was the case for sister restaurants Asador on Haddington Road and Prado in Clontarf, which brought forward the planned launch of Asador / Prado at Home kits, like a Barbecue Box (€49/€75), a Surf ‘n’ Turf Box (€59) and even roast beef & lamb boxes too (€75). Add on a cocktail kit for €49.

Asador serves some of the best barbecue food in Dublin; their chefs have spent time in Spain, Portugal, and Argentina learning all about the craft of barbecuing. They have several menus which contains small plates, chargrilled meats (and cauliflower for vegetarians), seafood, and even risottos. Asador also has a heated terrace on-site, perfect if you’re looking for the BBQ vibes without having to do all the hard work.

Sister restaurants Asador and Prado have six at home meal boxes available, with four designed for the barbecue. They've covered a lot of bases from a healthy Mediterranean box with piri piri chicken and halloumi sticks, to the ultimate BBQ box with beef, lamb, prawns and sausages (only available for the May bank holiday). Available for collection or delivery Thursday - Sunday and they cover most of Dublin.

Now, Asador would be the poshest option on the list, it’s a swanky looking modern barbecue restaurant. Starters feature maple smoked BBQ ribs, chicken wings and even the raw meat beef tartar. For main courses, there are different cuts of beef (fillet, sirloin, côte de boeuf for 2), barbecued fish and several other types of meat.

Visited Asador this week and it was such a lovely experience. The food was so delicious and full of flavour. What made the dining experience truest exceptional was the brilliant service provided by Adrian, the attentive and knowledgeable waiter.

Barbecue food in the centre of Dublin, and great quality to boot, Asador is a crowd pleaser for any carnivore. Their dry aged steaks and game are cooked over fires of oak, apple, and lump wood charcoal. The perfect place to spend lunchtime.
