Reviews Summary

Gigi is praised for its authentic handmade pasta and cozy, intimate atmosphere, offering a taste of Italy. Standout dishes like truffle pasta and the brownie are frequently highlighted. However, some reviews mention issues with rushed service, high prices, and inconsistent food temperature.

"gigi’s is definitely one of the best italian restaurants in dublin to date! we really enjoyed a lovely dining experience and were attended by such friendly and welcoming servers all night. for our appetizers we ordered the fritto misto, arancini alla carbonara, polenta chips and the burrata. each were great but the arancini and the polenta chips were spectacular! we tried the lobster bisque ravioli special, the tagliatelle al ragu, the tagliatelle rococo and the nduja pasta for our mains. all the dishes were super flavourful and unique, i highly recommend any seafood pasta on the menu! lastly we ordered a delicious tiramisu to end the night on a sweet note. the cozy and intimate atmosphere added to the overall experience, can’t wait to return again!"

Our Picks of the Best Restaurants in Ranelagh

With handmade pasta made fresh daily and ingredients that are left to take centre stage, you can be sure that the food at Gigi is prime. Opt for the Cannelloni Ricotta Spinaci, full of ricotta, burrata cream and just general goodness that will have you asking for seconds. With a wine menu consisting of Italian wines chosen to best represent each region’s offerings, you can enjoy a vino or two in the comfort of this candlelit but casual spot.

Lucinda O'Sullivan's Ireland - Restaurant Review

And so I come to another Italian, a man who has graced the floors of Dublin restaurants for many a long year and has just opened a new Italian Restaurant, Gigi, in Ranelagh. Giorgio Casari, is best known for his time as co-owner, with Jeff Stokes, of the Unicorn Restaurant off Merrion Row (now under new ownership), where he greeted the glitterati and celebs ranging from Bill Clinton to Brad Pitt.

The best places to eat in Ranelagh right now

Gigi is a mash-up of two Giorgios: Giorgio Casari, who ran The Unicorn for two decades, and a younger Giorgio taking the torch of the laid-back Italian restaurant to a new generation. Inside, it’s low-lit brick and gilted wallpaper – cheerful but definitely not cheap. There’s a touch of the Ranelagh mark-up about the prices.
