What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Spitalfields is lauded for its exceptional food, friendly service, and warm, inviting pub atmosphere, making it a standout dining destination. Guests rave about signature dishes like the Cock-a-Leekie pie and the creative starters, with many calling it the best meal of their trips. While overwhelmingly positive, some note that cocktail preparations could be refined and the price point might be on the higher side for the location.
"One of the best meals we’ve had in many moons. We started with the devilled eggs and the bitterballen, both delightful, and for the main course went with their claim to fame, the cock-a-leekie pie, which came with a perfectly dressed side salad, and added a side of roasted carrots - everything was incredibly delicious. We finished with the rhubarb mille feuille which was a perfect light dessert after a decadent meal. The service was very friendly and not pretentious, drinks were excellent. Highly recommend."

"Had the most wonderful dinner last night at Spitalfields restaurant! We were seated at the bar and service was great. The bar tender we were chatting to was both funny and could make an impeccable cocktail. We honestly could not fault the food, it was full of flavour and made with love. We have been travelling for four weeks throughout Europe and this was hands down our favourite meal. We will be recommending this restaurant to anyone we know heading to Dublin."

"Exceptional dining experience! A place everyone can enjoy. The “Cock-a-leeky” pie was outstanding and the desserts were pure heaven. Great vibe, with attentive and knowledgeable staff—couldn’t fault a thing. Just note that you need to order three dishes per person (including a main), but snacks and sides count, so it’s not as daunting as it sounds. Already looking forward to going back!"

Spitalfields really has the feel of a ‘proper’ Irish pub, one where you’ll find the locals with a Guinness in hand at the bar and the warmest of welcomes from Declan Maxwell, winner of The MICHELIN Guide’s Service Award in 2023. He and his team run the place with both charm and efficiency, providing wonderful hospitality which is ideally matched by the simple, honest cooking that doesn’t skimp on flavour. There are subtle global influences to be found on the menu, yet it remains Irish at heart.
