The Seafood Bar @ Kirwan’s was one of the first restaurants to open on the newly restored Kirwan’s Lane – one of Galway’s oldest streets – in the mid-1990s, and today, it’s still one of the city’s most popular restaurants. Both locals and tourists flock here for the ambience, live music and especially the food, which revolves around the sea. Between Galway Bay rock oysters, linguine of gambas prawns and palourde clams, and their own signature fish and chips with tartare sauce, pescatarians will be spoiled for choice.

Nestled into a lamp-lit corner of Kirwan's Lane near the Quays, this slim, two-story oasis has served quality local seafood for more than 20 years. Its selection reads like a travel guide from the highlights of the Wild Atlantic Way: Burren smoked salmon, Dingle prawns, and Connemara mussels. Owner Mike O'Grady combs the local waters for the finest produce for Kirwan's, and beef and chicken are also on the menu.

Named after one of Galway’s 14 Tribes, the quaint Kirwan’s Lane lies inside Galway’s former city walls. This tight pedestrian street curves through a ravine of rustic stone houses that have elements dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. As soon as I stepped through the doors of The Seafood Bar at Kirwan's in Galway, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff. Their enthusiasm for seafood was infectious, and I knew I was in for a treat. I started my seafood extravaganza with a plate of delicious prawns.

From the moment I stepped into this hidden gem tucked away in Galway, I knew I was in for an unforgettable dining experience. The casual atmosphere combined with the fine dining menu immediately caught my attention. And let me tell you, the food did not disappoint.

I think McDonaghs on Quay street or Hooked on Henry street r best for Fish n Chips. Most places in Galway will have fresh fish on the menu. If its freshly caught and simply cooked it'll be nice!.
