Reviews Summary
Matt The Millers is a highly-regarded Irish pub known for its lively atmosphere, excellent live music, and friendly service. Diners consistently praise dishes like the ribs and fish and chips, though some mention inconsistencies in food seasoning or burger quality. The vibrant ambiance and accommodating staff make it a popular choice for both locals and tourists seeking a fun night out.
"We went for early dinner so the bar was not really hot but we were with our kids and boy did we enjoy our food! The service was very friendly. Took good care of us. Kids had fish and chips and I had ribs that were very moist and fall off the bone! Wife had pizza and it was good for her too"

"Visiting from out of town, California specifically, and stopped by here for dinner on a Thursday night. The service was great! Everyone was so nice and attentive. The live music was awesome! Comfortable chairs and tables. The food was so yummy! I got the ribs plate and my husband got the main chicken dish with the mustard based sauce. Everything was so amazing and I highly recommend!"

"I had a good experience at Matt The Millers Bar & Restaurant. The chicken wings were very nice and definitely a highlight. The fish could have been seasoned a bit more to bring out the flavor, and the bun of the burger was on the harder side. Drinks and service, however, were excellent – very friendly and quick. Overall, a nice spot with great atmosphere, just a few small improvements on the food side would make it even better."

Kilkenny Attractions - Things to Do in the City Centre
Butterslip opened in 2005, full of colourful ideas and wild notions, the result of much day dreaming, notebook scribling, scrapbook filling and finally one great flight of madness. The scribbler, day dreamer and committed pritt sticker here is me, Anne, still often to be found doodling and daydreaming – these days I just try and make it look more productive. The name is taken from Butterslip Lane in Kilkenny, one of the city’s many curious and charming side streets, and where we first opened the eponymous shop (there was a very nice party, complete with a clown, cakes, lots of balloons and liquorice allsorts).

Hmmm, maybe I’ll have pork for dinner…A tempting place for dinner. But Al had found Matt the Millers on his phone and wanted to go there. It was a good choice in terms of food – I had an excellent goat cheese and red onion chutney tartlet with a salad and Al ribs in a dark’ bourbon’ sauce. The beer selection was less enticing so I had a wine and Al something that he wasn’t too impressed with. Two other places that were recommended but we didn’t make it to were Tynan’s Bridge House Bar (2 John’s Bridge) for its traditional music and the modern Langton House Hotel.

Whisky aficionados must visit The Dylan Whisky Bar , just down the hill from the castle and next to the excellent Matt the Miller’s Restaurant.
