Reviews Summary

Sullivan's Taproom is lauded for its great atmosphere, friendly service, and excellent selection of craft beers, making it a favorite spot for both locals and visitors. Diners rave about the delicious pizzas and wings, though some recent reviews suggest inconsistencies in food quality, particularly with the wings, and concerns about pricing.

"I’ve seen this featured in the show Ireland county by county. We went Monday night and there’s a live music and I guess it’s only until 8pm. The falling apple cider is good not sour not sweet! It’s perfect! We had chicken wings only coz we just had dinner. Honey glazed and bbq is a great combo!"

Racemell Pabillore

"What a fun place to get good food and service. Make sure to see Alex and check on her Paddy day drink! They have a patio, but I didn't make it out there. Wings and pizza were amazing. Beer and mixed drinks were Delicious! Thanks Alex for entertaining us!"

Steve Holmes

"The food here was phenomenal . Got the veggie burger and the cauliflower wings. We cycled around Kilkenny & stopped here for a brew & a bite. It hit the spot. Cool fast casual taproom atmosphere & great customer service. Don’t sleep on this spot! Cheers!"

A guide to Kilkenny, the modern Irish city in a medieval skin

But savvy beer fans know Sullivan’s Taproom is where to find the best local brews, and you can get grub in its beer garden, too. Family-run Rinuccini cooks up classic Italian cuisine with Irish ingredients, and Michelin-starred Campagne takes a French-inspired approach. Besides these classic Kilkenny restaurants, there’s a clutch of new kids on the block.

Weirdo Guide to (Some) Kilkenny Pubs: A Weekend in the Country

After more pleasant strolling and some actual relaxation in my hotel, I ventured back out for dinner, this time, to Sullivan’s Taproom (‘established 1702’). They have considerably expanded their covered outdoor seating since our previous visit, and it’s a thoroughly pleasant spot, with a variety of nooks and crannies in the Craftonia style, and I saw A Thing I don’t think I’ve ever seen in this country – Young People being asked for ID before being served drinks. You can order via QR code or go to the bar, and while I know some are not fans of the QR code approach, as a solo diner/drinker, it’s very handy – no worry that your table will disappear if you need a refill.
