Wickham Way, at the top of Thomas Street, which Eva Clarke opened in 2021, is a vibrant market in a former plant hire shop, strung with bunting and festival lights. With about 30 food stalls, most of which are hot food, you get a sense of the broader community living in Limerick, with Chilean food from Sebastian Silva and Lisette Godoy of Lizz Bakery; medialuna and fractura from Alfajores Argentinos; and dosa from Raasta Foods. Nearby on High Street, in Dasco Deli, Gwen and Carlos Dasco offer a compelling choice between a full Irish breakfast and Filipino specialities such as tapsilog, a breakfast dish of marinated beef, garlic rice and a fried egg, which is served with beef broth, apple and cucumber salad.

Embracing Limerick’s past never gets old and the Limerick Museum offers a unique collection that tells the history of Limerick and its people in its full glory!. The museum hosts over 60,000 interesting objects from archaeological artefacts to Limerick lace. Some of the more unusual items worth seeking out include Ireton’s Cat, a mummified cat found on Nicholas Street in the 1890’s; a fragment of the largest meteorite ever to fall in the British Isles; and two World War II gas masks that fortunately never had to be used.

Meander around Wickham Way to find handmade crafts, art, clothes, baked goodies, and DJs spinning in The Loft. This community space holds over 30 vendors at their weekend Indoor Market and special added attractions like slow flow candlelit yoga classes. On Friday, the food court is open with feeds from the likes of hotdog and burger experts Republic of Grill, woodfired pizza from Dough Mamma and beers by Crew Brewing Company.

Another more recent arrival is the Wickham Way street food and craft market where Caomhán de Brí’s Salt Food Project is turning out delicious and innovative street food using plenty of finest local produce and it is to be hoped he remains an integral part of a promising new development.
