Venya Bistro

Venya Bistro is a high-end restaurant located in the port of Haifa, sandwiched between the water and the hustle and bustle of the city. Venya opens at 17:00 during the week, making it the perfect place for a (very) late lunch, or an early to late dinner. On the weekend, you can stroll in for a relaxing meal at noon.

Vanya Bistro Restaurant is located on the waterfront in the lower city of Haifa, with a view of the sea on one side, and the bustling urban noise on the other. Between mooring ships and passing trains to the magical streets of the lower city, the changing pace of the surroundings allows you to stop for a good dinner, sit down to read a book outside over cold beer and light food in the evening, or continue into the night with a variety of dishes and happy and lively drinks. The restaurant is another step in creating a sensual organic fabric, which connects the old Haifa tradition of the sailors together with the new generation that is developing in the lower city.

There are also original cocktails and tangy herring served up at Venya Bistro, and robust homemade sausages and craft beers at Libira Brew Pub. (None of the restaurants listed above are kosher.) Across the street, in what’s known as the historic Turkish Market neighborhood, are more bars and local joints, including the popular Falafel Mishel as well as a handful of locally owned boutiques — including one or two that moved to Haifa from Tel Aviv. One of the newer additions to the neighborhood is the 1926 Designed Apartments Hotel with small kitchenettes in each of the brightly appointed rooms.

Venya was opened at the time by Shahar Sivan and it made a buzz as soon as it opened. Since then, it has gone through several incarnations until chef Michael Gratofski came along. Lonia great dishes from Italian-French cuisine, but one surpasses them all - wide pasta, with asparagus, bacon, pesto and parmesan.

Around the corner, Venya Bistro, under new management, is upgrading its food menu, alongside its inventive cocktails. It has a fully stocked bar, and a plethora of al fresco seating.
