What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mezcal is celebrated for its authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine, with many hailing it as the best in Israel. Patrons rave about dishes like the nachos, enchiladas, and ceviche, alongside refreshing margaritas. However, some reviews mention inconsistent service and high prices for certain items, with one reviewer experiencing an unpleasant encounter with staff.
"What a beautiful, wonderful experience. Service was good but oh my, the food! By far the best Mexican I've ever eaten. I will be dreaming of those nachos for years to come. Wish I could give more stars! Ordered: Nachos for sharing, Mushroom Taco, Fish Taco, Flan and the tequila dark chocolate truffle desert. Yum!"

"Worst bar experience ever, having places to sit, he asked us to get out from the bar, because no one sat us. Okey I understand if they have this policy, but why criticize us for our fashion??
He said we gonna wait long long time because of our attitude.
I understand it’s probably a long shift, but can’t be so aggressive to probable clients.
Maybe food and drinks are good, didn’t had the chance to try.
Next to this the service is much friendlier at Mate."

"Went a 5 people party to celebrate a birthday. First time in a Mexican restaurant in Israel. Surprising variety of dishes and flavors. enjoyed every dish, each different and exciting.
Flan was a wonderful surprise, and the Mexican sweet coffee a nice finishing touch.
Portions seem relatively small, with a main of two tacos costing about 50 something shekels. but even with 3 starters, 6 mains, 2 desserts and 2 drinks the bill came out at a bit over 600. Everyone full and happy."

My Perfect Tel Aviv Day
There are a few Mexican restaurants in Tel Aviv and I’ve tried them all but my favorite is Mezcal. Mr. Em in Jerusalem and I discovered Mezcal on that magical day where we found The Most Beautiful Sofa in the World and we’ve been smitten ever since. I know I should explore the dining scene in Tel Aviv a little more, branch out and try a place I’ve never been, like that vegan Georgian place everyone raves about, but if I’m with the husband, he will flatly refuse and just want to go grab a seat at the bar at Mezcal, order one item from each menu category (taco, tostada, quesadilla, and sometimes enchilada) and sip a margarita until the food arrives.
Mexican food
Mexican food is a relatively new phenomenon in Tel Aviv over the past 5 years, yet is a natural development generated by a rising Mexican and American ex-pat community. In this promising realm of cuisine, it is Mezcal, owned by of Ziv and Esther Erlich, which claims the culinary throne. Unlike the standard restaurant that caters clearly to the local restaurant crowd, Mezcal seeks to shed light onto the authentic flavors and manners of cooking that have differentiated the Mexican kitchen from its regional counterparts.
