There's always a lively crowd at this backstreet trattoria, where diners pack into three rooms to enjoy the same multicourse set menu. If this seems limiting, think again—you'll be presented with a range of fresh, delicious, seasonally appropriate dishes (perhaps prawns, squid, swordfish, or sea bass) in abundant portions. The usual formula is: five cold starters, two pastas, two mains, a dessert, and unlimited drinks—all for one price.

It was on our list but it’s only open for dinner, and after spending a whole day wandering around the city and its surroundings, my one-year-old son was starting to get tired and nervous so we headed to our hotel. In addition to having read excellent reviews, Mabrouk was also recommended to us by two local artisans, so next time in Alghero, a dinner here will definitely be a must. Located a stone’s throw from the cathedral, Mabrouk offers a fixed menu of five appetizers, three first courses, three second courses, dessert and drinks included for a price ranging from €40 to €55.

Il Ristorante Mabrouk Alghero nasce nel cuore del centro storico di Alghero ed è l’harem degli amanti della cucina di pesce. Il locale nasce all’interno di un antico monastero del ‘500, è disposto su due piani ma non è grandissimo e propone menù a prezzi fissi con piatti abbondanti e dai sapori unici ( €45 menù di pesce con 5 antipasti, 2 primo e 2 secondi). Ricordiamo che il ristorante Mabrouk è aperto solamente di sera, il pesce cucinato è prettamente il pescato del giorno e proviene dai migliori mercati ittici della zona e dalla barca di famiglia.

It was a 10-course set menu (which I love) for 55 euros. I don’t want to tell you too much about it because I want you to discover it for yourself but in a nutshell it’s a beautiful evening of fresh fish and locally sourced ingredients that are phenomenally prepared.

📍 Via Santa Barbara 4, just steps from the Cathedral of Santa Maria. This little gem is a paradise for lovers of fresh fish. The philosophy here is simple: “only fish, only fresh, only at dinner.” The menu changes daily based on the catch, chef Antonietta is a force of nature, and the fish is always incredibly fresh.
