"Went to the restaurant.
Nice atmosphere.
But the food was hit and miss.
Stay away from the “fusion” Asian dishes, they don’t do it well. Ordered satay chicken with sushi rice. Disappointing. Rice was cold, satay sauce was sourish, chicken was tasteless.
The starters fared better, had the Bao with grilled prawns etc.
Not understanding why they received a 4.7 rating; feels more like a 4.2."

The phrase that sometimes applies to Naples or Rome has its comparison here, La piazzetta delle erbe , or die.
Fortunately I ate here on my first night in Assisi , booked on the spot for my 2nd night, without hesitation if there was to be another day I would have returned.
Passionate cooking, hearty traditional dishes with sauces to die for, alongside exceptional Japanese cuisine. I had one night traditional , next sushi.
I can honestly say my 1000km+ bike ride was worth it just to eat here.
I shall return for sure.

The Best Restaurants in Assisi
This is our hands down favorite place to eat in Assisi, especially in the summer when they have tables set up outside in the tiny square just a block from the crowded Piazza del Comune and you can linger over your meal in peace. Gourmet without being pretentious, local without being boring, friendly without being overbearing…the Piazzetta is a little on the hipster side with bearded waiters and whimsical plating, but Matteo’s food is genuinely excellent. A local favorite, this is one of the few places that doesn’t close down for a month or two after New Year’s and is almost always full, so be sure to reserve a table in advance.
