Foodwise, this place completely departs from the Italian dishes non-local palates are used to, and that’s why we love it. Traditional plates are punched up with unexpected flavor combinations inspired by whatever’s in season, like the black cabbage gnocchi with a welcomed bitterness.

We had the hotel book us a taxi back to Laglio to change for dinner and drove to Ristorante Crotto dei Platani for dinner. I wasn’t super impressed with this spot and wouldn’t recommend as my first choice. The view and pea soup was great but the rest was a bit overpriced.

A “Crotto” is a traditional lake restaurant, basically the lake’s version of a Trattoria. Both the restaurant and the menu have been updated over the years, and the prices have gone up, but it remains a beautiful location and the food is delicious!

For lunch we docked at Crotto dei Plantani and sat on their vine covered terrace, looking out at the lake, sipping prosecco and nibbling on truffle covered fish tartare.
